As for Pearl Jam, I love Yield, but I still feel that Vitalogy is their best album. Not for You, Tremor Christ, Nothingman, Better Man, Immortality, etc. All classics. Yeah, but "Vitalogy" also has absurd time-wasters (and indicators that the band steeped into the pretentious zone) with the following "songs": "Aye Devanita," "Pry To," "Bugs," and "Hey Foxymophandle...." That's four idiotic experimental songs at a total of 15 minutes. Heck, The Beatles had "Revolution #9," but it was one song on a double album set; Pearl Jam put FOUR of these time wasters on one album! For that reason, no way can "Vitalogy" be considered a masterpiece. Let me ask you, when was the last time you had a desire to listen to "Pry To"? Yes, "Vialogy" has some of Pearl Jam's best moments ("Last Exit" at times is my favorite Pearl Jam song), but, man, look at "Yield." Top to bottom that is an incredibly solid and fantastic album. We all know that the millions and millions of people that bought "Ten" disappeared after "No Code." Pearl Jam to those "fans" was the hot flavor of the month and they left the bandwagon disappointed in the direction the band took. Unfortunate for them because if they stuck around for "Yield" they sure would have loved it. "Yield" is a Pearl Jam album for everyone - hardcore fans and casual music fans. It's a great album. You have a great point. Bugs was such a worthless 'song'. They did have a lot of filler crap. I just like 75% of the songs so much I still consider it my favorite. Nothingman is probably my favorite Pearl Jam song.
