I'm logged in over at IMDb.com continuously, and in the past, at the bottom of any page I was on, there was my "Viewing History" showing a thumbnail of all the films/actors/directors etc. whose page I had recently visited. Then, to the right of that, was an option to expand that to view even more of your recent viewing history: it would open up a page with a lot more of the thumbnails (about 10 or 12 lines worth?), and, it gave you the option to selectively delete one or more of them.
Well, I just noticed that now when I go down to the bottom of any page over there, the "Viewing History" at the bottom is just one line of thumbnails, and the option to the right now simply says, "Clear Your History." There is no option to expand the page of thumbnails like in the past, no option to selectively delete...
I don't know when, why or how this format has changed... can't say I like it. Anybody know anything about it?

I noticed the change but never used the viewing history anyway so it doesn't affect me.

I haven't logged onto IMDb since February, and I rarely go there at all now.

For those who speaks English, it doesn't matter, but for us who don't, they took away the possibility to see a movie name next to the original name, now we have to click on every goddamn movie, but I guess it's good for fanatics of the Star-o-meter...

ZolotoyRetrieverHello, Retriever. I occasionally go to IMDB to check a film credit. What I find even more perplexing is WHY I have a "Viewing History" at all -- since I DELETED my account (when the bastards abandoned us) and can no longer log in. Yes, the "Clear History" button is there and works. But, how can a non-member have a history? What bit of info are they linking my visits to? Makes you wonder about the "anonymity" of the Web. Anyone have any ideas?

Yes I saw that a week ago. For some reason "This is Us" kept showing up despite me not ever watching the show or even clicking onto its profile.

I rarely visit the site anymore but checked the trivia section the other day after I watched Blade Runner 2049. I didn't notice anything peculiar but never really used that feature in the past.

I think I turned off that option as I can't see it but I do like how it recommends films for me to watch (even though I've usually already watched them).

As to your situation over there, not being logged in and having no account, yet still seeing a viewing history, I guess it's just them tracking your viewing history and matching it with your IP address or whatever identifier they get off of your browser. I really don't know... I know that some online vendor sites, like Amazon, will show you items you've recently viewed - without your having logged on or even registered to their site with an account. So, they (IMDb) are probably doing the same thing.
Me, I'm logged in all the time (I probably wouldn't even remember how to log back in if I *did* log off, so I've never logged off the site, for years!). Anyway, I don't like the new format of just having one horizontal line of "recently viewed" thumbnails, and no option to expand it or edit it with a "delete one at a time" button, like they had before. The only option now is to "clear history" which doesn't help.
Oh well, I guess there's a "get help" desk over there still, so maybe I'll go over there and raise my concerns, or see if perhaps somebody has already brought up that topic.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that. That's as good an explanation as any.
