... a milestone episode? I ask because I've been reading that a lot of people were disappointed with THE WALKING DEAD's 100th episode last night.
Somewhere during the previous decade, the whole milestone episode thing kind of faded away. The 100th, 200th, etc. episodes could have something noteworthy (like the return of an important character), but their plots wouldn't have much effect on the show overall.

I never have any expectations when watching a milestone episode.

It depends on the show, the milestone, and what the general season story arc is for the show. Sometimes I get super psyched, but mostly I don't.

For one of the Simpson's 300 (or was it 500?) episode. I was sort of psyched for it just because of the milestone episode number, but the actual episode plot, which I have since forgotten, was not terribly memorable. As I said usually I don't get worked up about a milestone episode. Not anymore.

I don't even pay attention for what number an episode is, except per season.

That's actually an interesting example, since THE SIMPSONS parodied the concept of a milestone episode by making the 138th episode a special.

Episode 100 used to be a milestone in order for a show to go into syndicated reruns. I don't even think that's the case anymore. I was disappointed with TWD's 100th episode, but only because it sucked.
