Unless they can find someone with the charisma of a Tom Selleck its a terrible idea.

Aren't they making this one a female led? I thought it was gonna be based around his daughter?

spooner5020No, the article says it will be a reboot, not a sequel. The star will be Thomas Magnum but the Higgins character will now be a woman.

I was going to say they would also need a strong Higgins to keep Magnum tamed. Hmm add sexual tension? Better not ship the characters after 3 or 4 seasons for no reason than to ship them because fans demanded it.

Josh Holloway would be excellent...but he's already got Colony.

Where's the reboot of Tales of the Gold Monkey or Bring Em Back Alive at?

I was a fan of Magnum PI. I'm just not really in favor of them taking every single show that was remotely successful and remaking everything. There's only one Tom Selleck

The original "Magnum P.I." was created to use production facilities left over after the original "Hawaii Five-O" was cancelled. This announcement has me wondering if CBS' new "Hawaii Five-0" series will be cancelled soon.

Where's the reboot of Tales of the Gold Monkey or Bring Em Back Alive at? I thought, a couple of years ago, a reboot of The Greatest American Hero was in the works... I haven't heard anything about it since. ...and you would think with all these superhero projects going on these days, someone would be pushing to make it... I just don't know about some of these reboots... In some cases, these shows were popular, because of when they came out, and I think they were a product of their time, and just can't be successfully updated. TV Shows today also tell stories differently too... Everything now is written as part of some seasonal arc, or everything is too fast paced to be thoroughly enjoyed on a single viewing. So, Many reboots are not lasting for more than a season, and I think they are just too different than the originals. Plus, Part of the charm of the originals were the actors who were cast in the shows. As pointed out, Tom Selleck himself, was part of what made the show so great. Same thing with John Hillerman as Higgins. Magnum P.I. without them? I just can't imagine it...

That's already a ridiculously successful run to go 8 seasons so I don't think it'd be realistic to expect any more than that either way.

Maybe Season 8 will be the last season of Five-0, and the Magnum reboot will replace it next season? I'm surprised the rebooted Five-0 has lasted as long as it has. I used to watch it, but bailed halfway through Season 2.

I really like Hawaii 5-0 but the show is at a natural stopping point. The had to change out half of the main cast this season.

I really like Hawaii 5-0 but the show is at a natural stopping point. The had to change out half of the main cast this season. I stopped this year after the whole oddly timed departure of the entire asian main cast...seemed too shady to me. Plus, the dynamic between Danny and Steve is fantastic, but Scott Caan has some sort of sweetheart deal where he's only in like half the episodes a year, and he always has an episode or two where he never interacts with anyone, so the best relationship in the show keeps getting sidelined. I really liked Catherine, and they put her in the main cast, but then never had her in any episodes. I like Grover, but the show didn't need him. I like Jorge Garcia, so I therefore like Jerry. Kamekona is never on the show enough... But yeah...natural stopping point has kinda come and gone...

Where's the reboot of Tales of the Gold Monkey or Bring Em Back Alive at? Coincidentally, also two shows Josh Holloway would be perfect for.
