Coincidentally, also two shows Josh Holloway would be perfect for. This guy was supposed to be going places, what happened? He's stuck on a boring USA show called "Colony" which better step it up next season or I'm going to be dumping it.

He was too perfectly cast on Lost, and I am pretty sure he didn't want to get typecast so he was more selective about his next projects (I think he was offered and passed on playing Gambit in an X-Men project) Colony is a passable show, not amazing, but I like him and Peter Jacobson (The guy who played Taub on House) and they keep me watching. But I'm thinking enough time has passed since Lost that he would be open to something closer to Sawyer. Heard once that they were looking at rebooting "The Rockford Files" with him...which actually sounded pretty perfect.

Magnum PI without Tom Selleck and John Hillerman isn't Magnum PI, it's just another shitty idea in the long, sad history of shitty ideas.

spooner5020 No, the article says it will be a reboot, not a sequel. The star will be Thomas Magnum but the Higgins character will now be a woman. I didn't read the article. I just knew at one point there was supposedly going to be one based around his daughter or something. Is the Higgins actor still alive? Anyway. No TS no watching!

I wish them good luck in emulating Thomas Magnum's narration for 2018 audiences.
On a side note, when will the original series be issued on BLU-RAY in the United States? It's been out for about a year in the UK.

You can't reboot old shows with today's uptight politically correct sensibilities! Period.

You can't reboot old shows with today's uptight politically correct sensibilities! Period. Well the original wasn't exactly All in the Family, on the contrary it was actually a really bland, vanilla, and inoffensive show. Just had a certain charm and great chemistry between the leads, not to mention Selleck at the peak of his charisma.

It's been out for about a year in the UK. Not sure why that should be a problem...shows have narration today. True, they are mostly for period pieces like "The Goldbergs" but narration shouldn't be a stretch.

Although if a female plays Higgens, and he treats her like old Higgens, there WILL be a lawsuit! LOL! IMHO, that show was carried by Selleck and his charisma as you said. You could change the plots and no one would care, but change the lead? That's something different.

Where's the reboot of Tales of the Gold Monkey or Bring Em Back Alive at? I thought, a couple of years ago, a reboot of The Greatest American Hero was in the works... I haven't heard anything about it since. ...and you would think with all these superhero projects going on these days, someone would be pushing to make it... I just don't know about some of these reboots... In some cases, these shows were popular, because of when they came out, and I think they were a product of their time, and just can't be successfully updated. TV Shows today also tell stories differently too... Everything now is written as part of some seasonal arc, or everything is too fast paced to be thoroughly enjoyed on a single viewing. So, Many reboots are not lasting for more than a season, and I think they are just too different than the originals. Plus, Part of the charm of the originals were the actors who were cast in the shows. As pointed out, Tom Selleck himself, was part of what made the show so great. Same thing with John Hillerman as Higgins. Magnum P.I. without them? I just can't imagine it... It's coming real soon. And it's a female GAH this time.
