Every time Hollywood does a remake like the Peter Jackson King Kong a lot of people including me go on the Internet and complain . when ever we complain people will always respond and say " give the movie a chance" "don't judge it until you have seen it" Well now that there is a new king Kong movie coming out, those of you Who love the Peter Jackson film will understand why we hate remakes so much.

I just feel like with this new King Kong we're seeing stuff we've seen before. We've already had a big-budget CGI Kong film just 12 years ago. What is being brought here that is new that hasn't been seen before in Jackson's film or other previous Kong films? Not to say that this new film can't be entertaining, but I feel like we're not getting anything really new.

I hated the king kong from 2005. the new movie looks like a video game. can't stand movies that are ALL CGI. like the new independence day movie, it was HORRIBLE.

I agree it's probably too soon, but monster films like Kong do lend themselves to remakes better than most. As for remakes as a whole, I still feel that they have no negative effect on their originals nor are they required viewing for those uninterested in them.

I don`t hate remakes.
I mean nobody is forcing you to watch the remake. If you don`t like remakes don`t watch remakes.

Isn't this King Kong supposed to launch a shared monster universe?

Honestly, there are some decent remakes out there, but for the most part they are either poor in comparison to the original and entirely unneeded. That being said, I thought the remake of the texas chainsaw massacre was excellent and dare I say it, was actually better than the original. It's ridiculous how many remakes are being churned out though. It says that Hollywood doesn't have any original ideas left and they would rather play it safe than work for people who want to try something different as they would see it as a risk.

I agree. Some are good and can expand on the original. My feelings on remakes in general is tone them down instead of pumping them out and consider bad films getting a second chance at being done right.

I don't hate remakes. Who exactly do you think you are speaking for?

Oh please.
IDon't try to pretend that you are alone with the opinion that most remakes suck. Most people think remakes suck.

The Texas Chainsaw remake is one of the more tolerable horror remakes (largely due to Ermey's brillaint performance) but it is nowhere near the original imo.

It is possible to love mindless entertainment and movies with great stories and depth btw. Most people enjoy both. I like both Furious 7 and Ordinary people if you can belive that.
