great stuff. i'll take note and look at your recs. not mentioning some of poe's classics like obvious 'the black cat', etc..... do you remember a tale entitled 'the devil lost his head' or something along those lines (probably have the title wrong it's been a few years)? i have the book here somewhere with the short story. guy is traveling and comes across a bridge. come across an odd looking man sitting on a fence (the devil). a wager ensues about the gentleman performing a task over the bridge - anyway - obvious spoilers - the devil wins and collects his soul as the man is decapitated....very short story of a few pages - haunting - perfect for Halloween. Love 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'. have it in writing. need to give it a read again but also enjoy the modern stuff like Sleepy Hollow (huge Christopher Walken fan and Johnny Depp fan) No, I've never heard of that one, but now I'll have to check it out... Ah, is this it? Thanks for your recommendation too! I too own "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"--I'm going to have to take it out over the next few days, with Hallowe'en just days away! And I'm also a huge fan of Sleepy Hollow '99--one of my favorite adaptations of the story (along with the Disney one), even if it's not very faithful to the source. Very spooky, very autumnal, and sheer fun. that's it. it's a quick hitter. only a few pages. perfect little short story for those who love tales of life/death/does the devil exist. the only things that truly haunt me in life are stories about cults and the devil........that little short was a 'treat' as it left me 'haunted'

lol I can't tewll if we are all trolling one another or what at all. my favorite movie is the remake of 'The Dawn of the Dead' in 2004. love it. great character development. characters you care about. great acting. tense. jump scares. you're invested in the characters. great soundtrack. sad ending. My favorite movie is Dawn of the Dead 1978. Love it. It offers everything you could possibly want from a movie: action, scary moments, suspenseful moments, funny moments, sad moments, some romance, etc... It has great characters you care about, it takes place in a great location, it has one of the best and creepiest zombie performances of all time (Flyboy), it has a few other memorable zombies as well (plaid shirt zombie, Hare Krishna zombie, etc...), it has great gore, it has an amazing soundtrack and last but not least, Dawn of the Dead 2004 and hundreds of other zombie movies wouldn’t exist without it.

I have odd unique tastes because my favorite horror movie is a horror movie that 90% of horror fans think is a masterpiece.

I found these to be a fun ride. Can anyone else associate these with horror in a sense - wasn't it the first one that involved a 'Cult'? Watching Sleepy Hollow right now with Johnny Depp - always love movies like this involved in this time period - just like the Sherlock Holmes movies. Thinking about rewatching the 'Holmes' movies over the weekend for Halloween as I'm watching Sleepy Hollow right now. Holmes. Horrror elements or not? Who's with me? Thoughts? Discuss. Have you seen the series The Frankenstein Chronicles (now enjoying a belated second season) www.imdb.com/title/tt4206804/combined, Taboo www.imdb.com/find?ref_=nv_sr_fn&q=taboo&s=all and the more recent Gunpowder www.imdb.com/title/tt6128262/combined ? They all have horror undercurrents, to a lesser or greater degree and project a sense of the dark, fantastic side of history. I'd think you'd probably like the atmosphere of each if you enjoyed Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes films.
