I know what you mean and I am feeling better today but my flu hasn’t completely gone away yet so I am going to the Doctors this afternoon and Beccy is coming home early from work to take me just to make sure I am alright and she is just worried ‘cause the last time I had a flu that lasted this long was not the flu and turned out to be Pneumonia but I am sure it is not this time ‘cause I am not feeling as sick as I did back then and have been going to work the last two days. I think the Pandemic has had a negative impact on all our lives on all our lives over the last year and it has left some of us with more free time than we would like with the amount of people who sadly lost their jobs due to Lockdowns/ Shutdowns causing companies to go broke and close permanently and it has been very hard to avoid seeing sad and tragic news ‘cause the news has been full of it with that along with the bushfires and floods we had here in the last year and a half and it will be good when things go back to normal but I think it is still going to be a while before that happens and it isn’t going to go away overnight. As of now, the unormal has in a weird and creepy kind way, become the new "normal" life or everyday, at least compared to how it was almost a year ago, when all began, and the panic soon started spreading around. Most people, thought it would probably last for a few months, or so it felt, and then we had so much wrong and false "information", that were thrown around, and seemed to overflow the internet. But even scarier, it began to take place into more serious newspapers, sites and channels as well. Of course, the media and certain "experts" did not exactly help out, by pushing on, all kind of scary and potential situations, both when it comes to peoples health or wealth. I barely watch the news anymore. Not because I do not care, or feel for the tragic and sad situation, but there is just too much, all at once. Where the media and news, "milk" the death numbers of people, every day. And how many are ill, or have got any symptons or similar things. Beside family and people I hold close, music and movies have probably been my best way of trying to take a "time-out" from it all. Of course, easier said than done, but without those hobbies, or any hobby, my life would have been very empty, and sadly, there are probably very many, right now, who does not get to see their beloved ones, or enjoy spending time doing what they love the most. So I guess, I should feel glad, that I have that in my life, as of now. Without them, I would not like to think how it might have gone. Of course, physical training, running, driving a bike, or taking long walks, into the nearby forest and wild, has been also a huge and very important everyday boost. As I know how lucky we are in Norway/Oslo, right now, where as in other big cities, peeople must stay inside, or do only get to go out, in certain hours of the day. Still, there are lots of young students, being crammed into small spaced apartments, miles and miles away of their family and friends, in a town or place, where they know not many people, and then of course, the many elder, who are confused, lonely and yeah, the list goes on I guess. Hopefully, there might be some improvement, as they have just recently stepped up a bit, or should I say, eased down, in how strict the situation in certain cities are to be, and I really hope, they will soon re-open some of the indoor gyms, swimming pools and then maybe some of the everyday stores and shops, as I sure miss going to the second hand stores, looking up music, movies, books, and all kind of weird stuff. Yeah. The internet has changed the landscape of music and has been a good platform for Artists and Bands who aren’t under major labels to promote themselves to listeners around the world and some Artists and Bands from previous decades that were under small labels and didn’t get promoted much when they started out have even made comebacks due to new fans listening their music for the first time and going on to buy their albums and they have started touring and releasing new albums again which must have been a blessing to some of them and while there’s no denying the internet has had a negative impact on the music industry in some ways like the rise of illegal downloading I feel it has had just as many positives too that are sometimes overlooked. It has also brought a lot of music fans together from all around the world on sites and forums as you noted and I have been a member and a moderator on a few music forums over the years and I also talked to a few Artists and members of bands when I was on Myspace in the 00s including some that went onto become big when they were just starting out like Cassadee Pope, Luke Bryan, Lee Brice and Melissa O’Neil who become an actress. Oh yeah, the positives and the negatives when it comes to the internet and music and movie business. I still remember very little of the Napster era, mostly because I was not that much online during the period, and when I started taking more notice, Napster were almost done, and for me, I guess Emule or a few similar sites were more prefered later one. Still, I never stopped buying or picking up CDs or VHS or DVDs, as Emule where kind like Youtube, in where I would download or search for unheard movies/songs, that where hard to find in physical stores (I did not began to shop online, until a bit later on), so I tended to use Emule for the lesser know horror and action films of the 70s, 80s and early 90s. And those I liked or loved, would soon end up getting bought on DVD or VHS. The music however, were quite "messy". One could search for any artist or group, and often, you would get so much wrong music in return, so for me, I prefered to download/look up movies instead of music. Not sure if Emule or the other pre-Napster sites or clones, is still up. But with Youtube going strong, since 2006, I guess the days of Emule or Napster, is not likely gonna return for my part. And I still buy lots of movies and music, but more now, through second hand stores, as I never know what to find, and often some of the best hidden gems, have been found that way, but of course, one has to dig a bit further on, and there has also been lots of "non gems" but for such cheap prices, I really cannot complain. The downside, with having so much to choose or pick from, as we are truly spoilt, when it comes to the extreme portions of music and movies, lying around for free, often in much better quality than the physical releases, and yeah, there sure is a limit to how many films and albums one can watch or listen to, in a week or month. For me, I would rather fell in love with one great album, which gets better, for each listen, than only listen to a bunch of forgettable/mediocre albums, just once, and then move on, and never really settle down, for a few favorites. There are so many Artists and Bands out there though that there is not enough time to listen to all of them or enough money to buy all their albums () but I am glad to have discovered all the ones that I have ‘cause there is so much variety online compared to mainstream radio nowadays and I stopped listening to mainstream radio ‘cause they kept playing the same songs over and over again and I was not a fan of what they were starting to call Pop music. No. A lot of those bands I mentioned wouldn’t have become some of the biggest selling Rock and Metal bands of all time if it had not been for their record labels giving them a chance ‘cause it took years for some of them to catch on with people and for some it was finding that right song that become a hit and then people started buying their singles and albums and discovered their older ones and yes, there some that had success straight away with their debut albums but become known as One Hit Wonders ‘cause they were never able to follow up the success of those albums and I think one of the problems was some of them tried way too hard to outdo themselves or make an album as good as the first one instead of making one naturally.
Bands like Judas Priest, Rush and Cheap Trick never had that problem ‘cause they weren’t constantly trying to outdo a certain album and I liked Rush’s albums from the 80s the most too and didn’t know there were people that disliked them but people do have a divided taste in music as you said and we don’t always like the same things. I know with Uriah Heep the fanbase is divided ‘cause you have got some fans that don’t like acknowledging the albums after David Byron left which is a lot of them and some fans that only like their albums with John Lawton from Lucifer’s Friend and some that only like the newer albums with Bernie Shaw albums but I suppose when you go through as many changes as the band did with lead singers and musical styles it is bound to happen but I am among the fans that liked all their albums and I am the same with a lot of bands like Rush and Judas Priest and I think we discussed Judas Priest having an unreleased album last year after ‘Ram It Down’ that would have had songs like ‘Fire Burns Below’ and ‘Thunder Road’ on it and I still hope that sees the light of day ‘cause the songs they later released from it like the two above as bonus tracks on other albums sound good and as much as some fans are divided over that era I think there are a lot that would still buy it.
You are right about soundtracks and there have been a few soundtracks I have got for movies and TV Shows thinking they would have certain songs on them only to be disappointed to find they weren’t on them and I think some record labels don’t want songs on soundtracks ‘cause they prefer people get the full albums so they make more money. I didn't know that about 'Married With Children' but I know the theme song, 'Love and Marriage' was one of the many songs written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn and they wrote a lot of songs for Artists around the time of the Rat Pack and Frank Sinatra done a cover of the song and I actually have a book by Sammy Cahn which is a Songwriter's Rhyming Dictionary and my Grandfather bought it for me when I was young and was starting to write poems and songs. A strong debut album, or a big hit early, can sure do wonders, but as you mentioned, also a lot damage. I guess if bands like Rush had put out 2112, as their debut, or Judas Priest delivered something like British Steel or Screaming for Vengeance much earlier, it is not sure, they would last so long, and hand out so many great albums and songs, over that many decades. Sometime, it is better to start slow, and then see where it might take you. Could be quite some journey, or it could end up with just a little bright spark, and then it is all over. Anyway, I sure know what I would prefer. From what I understand, I guess many fans of Rush and Judas Priest, did not like that they shifted away of longer and harder or more complicted songs and music, towards shorter and more synth dominated music and style, yet, I believe of the many, many 70s hard rock, metal and prog rock bands who attempted going a similar way, very few came out, in such a strong and impressive way, as Rush and Judas Priest. They seemed to love the challenge, and accept that in order to keep on going with the times, some huge changes were in need, and while several of the 70s rock and metal acts might have enjoyed a few surprise hits into the 80s, Rush and Judas Priest would deliver great and fantastic albums, over and over, which is surely harder than just handing out a one hit wonder, every now and then. It is strange, in a fun and interesting way, to see how certain old classics, can go on to live their own life, either through the original versions, or someone else, either through a tv show theme and, maybe being featured in a movie. Love and Married, is certainly one of those, that the moment people hear the first seconds, I am sure most who grew up during the 80s and 90s, immediately think of Married With Children, hopefully in a positive way. Anyway, as of right now, I am really enjoying digging up a few of the 70s albums of Fleetwood Mac, and I had not heard them since I first got them, around 2006-07. Have forgotten how much great songs that were from Tusk (1979), and while I have yet to hear again Rumours (1977), there is such a nice surprise, in the variaty in music and songs, and yeah, this is what I love about music and movies. Sometimes, going backwards, hearing or watching again a film or album, which you liked, but then put away for a long while, and suddenly, many years later on, visiting them again, and it all feels so right. Hi stefancrosscoe
Yeah. You are right. The way the Coronavirus Pandemic has changed and reshaped our lives over the past year is something we most likely won’t see change back for some time and has become the new ‘normal’ in a way to many people and even over here in Australia where we have been luckier than some other countries with the virus ‘cause our states have been able to keep it under control we still live under the threat we could have a cluster any day now that could grow into another wave and cause us to go into Shutdown again like they did in Victoria last year and many of our businesses here in New South Wales are worried they couldn't survive that 'cause we had a number of them close down permanently last year including some that had been around for a long time and we never thought would close. What we are seeing now is countries where it is getting worse again like Canada and India and even with the vaccines now available it is not stopping it and I am honestly not sure what will at this point. There were a lot of people who thought the Coronavirus would only last a few months when the pandemic began and we would be back to normal by June or July but I had a bad feeling it was going to last a lot longer than that and was right and I think false information being spread around is one of the main things that has helped it thrive and now there are a lot of people in our country who refuse to have the vaccine.
Then the pandemic has also caused some people to become violent and hostile and I don't know if the same thing happened in your country but we had a lot of Panic Shoppers here last year that were getting into fights over items like tissues and toilet rolls which I never thought in a million years we would see and people like one guy at our local shopping centre that violently attacked and stabbed a security guard just for asking him to wear a mask and it is sad to see people behaving like that and makes you worried about going out. We have just started going out to more places again but we are taking things slow and haven't been going anywhere where it is too crowded and skipped this year's 'Sydney Royal Easter Show' but we are going to Taronga Zoo with my family later this month for the first time in months and I am looking forward to doing that and we used to go to the zoo every few months before the pandemic begun but the last time we went was in 2019. We used to also take my Niece (Courtney) to a lot of places like Art Galleries, Museums, Aquariums, Wildlife parks, Historical buildings, concerts, theatres etc but we haven't done that for quite a while either and I have missed doing things like that and didn't think there would come a time when we wouldn't be able to do them 'cause I was used to having the freedom to go out all the time but the Coronavirus took that from a lot of us.
I don't blame you for not watching the news 'cause a lot of it is depressive and not just with the Pandemic a whole bunch of other things like there was somebody that was randomly attacked by a gang of people with baseball bats outside a club the other night in one of the towns not far away from us and it is good to have hobbies to take your mind off things like that and I think if we didn't have hobbies we would probably all go mad. Music is a good way to get away from a lot of problems in the world and I have always found it to be very therapeutic and helpful when you are feeling down and going for walks is good too and I usually take our Malshis for walks but hadn't been doing it while I was sick and I am only taking them in the afternoons when I get home from work now 'cause it is too cold to take them in the mornings at the moment especially with winter on the way and they would come back frozen. I am glad they have eased some of the restrictions where you live and did they go into full Shutdown mode in your country to the point where everything was closed 'cause they thankfully didn't do that here and we had a lot of places including my work close last year but the supermarkets and some other shops still stayed open.
There are a lot of positives and negatives when it comes to the entertainment industry and the internet and I remember hearing about Napster but it was Kazza which was the main one I heard about here and I remember that and Limewire were on the news a lot in the 00s 'cause there were a lot of people using them to illegally download songs and albums and I think both were closed down eventually but I have heard people use other sites to illegally download songs now. The only songs I have ever downloaded free on the internet have been rare tracks I couldn't buy anywhere and I got a number of rarities and unreleased tracks by Avril Lavigne, the Cars, Kiss, Oasis and Jewel on sites I couldn't get anywhere else but most of what I download online I buy on I Tunes and I don't download movies or TV Shows except for the ones on Foxtel Download 'cause we still prefer to buy them physically on DVD or Blu Ray and a lot of people here in Australia still buy things physically 'cause we have some of the slowest internet speeds in the world and it takes ages for us to download things compared to how fast I have heard people can do it in America.
One of the main reasons I still prefer to buy things physically too is 'cause I feel safer having them that way and if you have something like your laptop or video game console break down they will be gone and you might have to buy them again and some of the albums I got on I Tunes in the past are no longer on there and it was a good thing I burned them onto blank CDs before my old computer broke down years ago 'cause I wouldn't have them anymore if it wasn't for that. Do you prefer to buy books physically or do you download them on eReaders like Kindle 'cause I have actually been downloading books more often on Kindle just 'cause they are easier to get and I don't have to wait until they arrive from other countries but there are certain Authors we always buy the physical books of. We are spoiled when it comes to music, movies and TV Shows and with albums I tend to find there are some Artists and Bands I can listen to the full albums of multiple times and never get tired of them but a lot of others where I only like a few tracks and skip the tracks I don't like that much when I am listening to them and Harem Scarem is the band I play the most in full and love all their albums along with Harry and Pete's solo albums and the albums by Harry's other band, First Signal.
It is a good point with debut albums and their success or failure can really define a band when it comes to longevity and I think sometimes releasing a poor album that doesn't do well can help a band too 'cause it gives them the motivation to come up with better songs and quite a few bands have had their down times and come back stronger and Aerosmith was one of them and their early 80s albums didn't turn out so well but then they reinvented themselves and come back with with hit after hit in the late 80s and early 90s with songs like 'Angel', 'Janie's Got A gun', 'What It Takes', ''Cryin', 'Crazy', 'Amazing', 'Hole In My Soul' and 'Deuces Are Wild.' There were a lot of bands that started out in the 70s that changed styles in the 80s and went in a more AOR or New Wave direction and I know some fans didn't like it and speak poorly of the albums they released at the time 'cause they were so different than their 70s material but I think for others it definitely benefited them doing it and made them into stars like Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Toto, Rainbow, the Scorpions, the Moody Blues and even Cheap Trick and with Journey, Styx and REO they weren't really big until they become AOR bands and had changes of lead singers. I personally liked all the albums bands like that released in the 70s and 80s and think it gave them more variety changing styles. I am glad you are enjoying listening to Fleetwood Mac and I have been listening to the Goo Goo Dolls and Seven Spires today and Seven Spires is an amazing band and their lead singer has an amazing voice and here are some songs of theirs I like. Will talk to you again later this week.

I have my iPad by my side. Right now, "Subdivisions" by Rush is playing. LOVE the video for this song, BTW. Joker's Wilde Yeah, that song/video, fits so well together. A fantastic album opener, and the album Signals (1982), were one of the first Rush albums I purchased on CD, and fell instantly in love with the futuristic and catchy synth-rock sound, and while Moving Pictures (1981) is probably their finest hour, at least of the 80s releases. Signals will always hold a special place for me.

While I have not yet (thankfully), encountered any of the more aggressive and hostile people, and who see it as their "job", to monitor and tell other people of how to behave and act, when they are shopping or going outside, I do have noticed a whole lot of the similar minded folks, online and specially in comments sections in newspapers and articles, using their full name, where they work, live and age, and a lot of bullies, who seem to feel it is very "important" to be on the "right" side, and let anyone know, if they are not with them, then they are against them. People who do not use masks, or have been to a party, with a larger crowd, is all of sudden called murders and all kind of vile and nasty stuff, but I think only a small portion of these "brave" internet bullies, would ever dare to say something like that, towards another human being, when coming face to face with them. Instead of hiding behind a computer screen. But I guess that is sadly just another "normal" day of life, for many, and these days, many seem to thrive in fueling more negativity and false information, upon all the other bad things that happens. However, I have seen a few "almost" Stephen King kind of movie cliches, wandering around, when visiting certain crowded stores, where as certain people, act as if they were filming a post apocalyptic horror movie, trying their very best to stay away of other people, and even when I have been taking a long run, out in the forest, usually very late at night, and for a 2-3 hour run, I usually can count with one hand, how many people I meet up with, and suddenly I end up meeting one person, for several hours, and with a mask on his face, all alone in the forest, like what the hell? But I guess there are those, who just have been scared so much, by all the information, and probably is taking all kind of cautions, but still, it is just, yeah, people are weird, sometimes. No question about that. The closest thing, to a complete shutdown, I guess happened around mid march (of last year) into second or third week of april, the month after. But then it gradually re-opened, but then came wave number 2, and 3, and the gyms, shopping centers, most of the restaurants, bars, diners, night clubs, football/sport arenas and so on, has been more or less, shut down since late of november (last year). But outside Oslo and nearby cities, it seems things have been opening up for some time, but that does not always mean it is a "good" thing, as many citizens from Oslo, end up driving out of the city, and into the smaller ones, to either go shopping, eat, drink or work out, and then everything soon will begin close down there as well. I sure do miss my local gym center, but have just recently brought up my bicycle, which I had not drove for 5-6 months, and gave it a go just the other day. I usually prefer to run, several times a week, but having the option of also cycling, it makes it all the more fun, and I just wish some of the shops/stores would soon re-open, as I love taking longer rides, and just see where I end up, maybe finding a new favorite little store or place, where I have never been to, before. According to the newspapers, we might get some positive information, about when or if, the shutdown, might ease off, a little bit. Speaking of DVDs/Blu-rays and CDs, I had a long chat with my cousin the other day, and my uncle was a huge movie lover. He must have (at some point) 10,000 movies or more, and he started collecting movies on physical format, back in the early 80s, and whent through Betamax, I believe the other was called Video 2000 (or something), then of course came the arrival of the VHS tape, then he started collecting Laserdiscs (these huge LP shaped movies, which I guess was supposed to overtake VHS, but that did not happen), and then onto DVD and Blu-ray. Sadly, he died back in 2019, but I always treasured the fun conversations and how much I learned from his love of movies and books, which he had been collecting, ever since he moved out on his own. The other day, my cousin was moving out a whole lot of stuff, that was left after his dad, and since he has no interest in movies (the physical format, that is), he asked me, if I wanted to come on over, and look through my uncles old movie collection, and then take home with me, those I wanted. As if not, he would just threw them away, as he had no intention of keeping them, since he mostly download or stream movies and music. I thought it was a very nice gesture, and while I kind of felt "bad", going through the old movie collection of my uncle, my cousin said that he would probably wanted it that way, instead of having some stranger, come in and just grab it all, and while I was going through his old collection, I began wondering how many of these films, he had re-purchased over and over, and which ones, where his favorites and so on. For many, movies are just something to "kill off" time with, but for me and many others, they are so much more. When I look through my own music or movie collection, I have all kind of memories, popping up, when I browse through it, from time to time. Anyway, my cousin told me, that his dad also had a Netflix or streaming account, which he had overtaken, and found out, that his dad, must have had at least 500-800 different movies, purchased online. And I guess a lot of people kind of forget, that when someone dies, a lot of what they buy or do, online, will often just continue on "as usual". But, yeah, I sure prefer to have my favorite movies and music, physical format, not just some random internet file, which might suddenly "disappear" or get taken down. By the way, speaking of closed down stores and shopping centers. Right now, in the norwegian news, I noticed that finally, stores and shopping centers, will open this week. Finally some great news, and hopefully this might keep up, instead of just a short while, before closing down again. As always, it is nice to chat with you, about music and everything and all, and you be sure to continue on, having a nice week/end.

Hi again
Thanks for being patient with me and I might take a while to reply to your posts sometimes but I will always get around to them when I can and I am happy to talk to another member on here who loves music too and music is my biggest love in life – well, apart from Beccy and our pets, of course lol) but I have always loved listening to music and singing and dancing to it and a large part of that had to do with my Auntie and Uncle and Grandfather being music fans too and growing up I listened to a lot of Artists and Bands when I stayed at their houses. We tend to like a variety of different genres but the ones we play the most here are AOR/ Melodic Rock. Country Music, Classic Rock, Singer/ Songwriter, Alternative Rock and Power, Progressive and Symphonic Metal and we mostly prefer the classic stuff but there are quite a few new Artists and Bands I have come to really like lately especially the newer Melodic Rock bands coming out of Europe and Singer/ Songwriters and my favourite solo Artist of all time is a tie between Jewel and Martina McBride and my favourite Band of all time is Harem Scarem and I think they are the most underrated Rock band in the history of music. A life without music, now that is something I truly fear, far more than, well, a whole lot of other scary stuff. I guess when it comes to certain music genres, I might be more of an music decade lover, as the 70s and 80s, surely are the two music eras, where most of my favorite albums and artists, often came out from. Well, the 80s, both in music and movies, are most likely the one I love the most. Been like that, since, well forever, I guess. I am surprised you have only got two Blue Oyster Cult albums since they have a lot of albums out but ‘Agents of Fortune’ and ‘Secret Treaties’ are both classics and ‘Agents of Fortune’ was actually one of their biggest selling albums due to the success of the single ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’ and just like we were discussing with Todd Rundgren I think Blue Oyster Cult weren’t as big as some other bands that were around at the same time ‘cause people bought ‘Agents of Fortune’ thinking all the songs would sound like ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’ but were surprised when they found out Buck Dharma only sang one song on it and the rest of the songs were by Eric Bloom, Albert Bouchard, Joe Bouchard and Alan Lanier and who sounded very different and interestingly that was the only Blue Oyster Cult album all the members sang lead vocals on. Most of their songs were performed by Eric Bloom, Buck Dharma, Joe Bouchard and Al Bouchard but it was not really until after ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’ was a big hit Buck started singing more and after Joe and Al left Buck went on to sing half the songs and Eric sang the second half and their second and third biggest hits, ‘Burnin’ For You’ and ‘Godzilla’ were sang by Buck too and while I like the other singers I think Buck should have been the lead singer from the start ‘cause his voice had more commercial appeal.
I would recommend listening to ‘Spectres’, ‘Fire of Unknown Origin’, ‘Mirrors’, ‘Imaginos’ and Buck’s solo album, ‘Flat Out’ the most and ‘Spectres’ is my favourite album by the band and they released a Deluxe Edition of it with bonus tracks like ‘Night Flyer’, ‘Dial M for Murder’, ‘Please Hold’ and a cover version of the classic song, ‘Be My Baby’ and do you get Deluxe Editions of albums ‘cause there have been a lot of Classic Rock bands bringing out Deluxe Editions of their older albums in the past decade and some of them have a lot of bonus tracks on them of unreleased songs that were meant to be on the albums and some are worth getting them for those especially if you don’t already have them and I have been surprised over some of the songs these Artists and Bands recorded that didn’t make the albums they were meant to be on ‘cause they sound better than a number of the tracks that did and make you wonder what the record labels were thinking not releasing them on the final albums and a few ended up getting released on other albums years later or becoming hits for other bands like Kiss’ Sword and Stone’ and The Beatles ‘Come and Get It’ which were recorded by Bonfire and Badfinger. I actually did not buy an BOC album, until fall of 2016, having re-watched one of my favorite 90s horror film, in Peter Jackson and The Frighteners (1996), that film makes great use (I believe it is a cover version, a rather well done) Don’t Fear The Reaper, and I decided to go for the album, containing that song. Turned out that I really liked the album, not because of that one certain hit, but because it contained so many other great ones, with lots of variaty as well. Since no music stores (not many left in my town) is open, as of right now, but I always try to search a little extra, in the second hand stores, as I remember seeing a few of their albums, but then I had my hands full, with a whole "mountain" of movies, CDs, books, comics and I guess I will hopefully sooner or later, stumble upon something of interest, and I might try to remember a few of the albums you mentioned. Thank you for answering my question and Dance/ Techno is one of the few genres I am not really a big fan of (sorry) along with Rap and Hip Hop but I know some people that like the genre and have heard some of the songs and when I started getting into music apart from the music I listened to with my Auntie, Uncle and Grandfather I was probably 7 or 8 and bands like Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Poison, Twisted Sister and Guns N' Roses were very popular at the time and then we had Grunge and that completely changed Rock music along with Oasis and the 90s were an awesome decade for a lot of female singers and I am not sure if you heard of Lilith Fair but I am big fan of a lot of the Female Artists that were associated with that and Country Music Artists like Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Reba McIntyre, Lee Ann Womack, Chely Wright, Jo Dee Messina, Lorrie Morgan, Deana Carter, Shelby Lynne, Mary Chapin Carpenter etc that were very popular here in that decade.
Thank you for the videos again and yes, Bon Jovi were one of the bands that survived the Grunge explosion and they also made a huge comeback in 2000 with their 'Crush' album and 'It's My Life' was a big hit here and was played on mainstream radio all the time along with 'Say It Isn't So' and '"Thank You for Loving Me' and then 'Have A Nice Day' was a hit along with their Country Music song, 'Who Says You Can't Go Home' with Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland which lead to them making the Country album, 'Lost Highway' and Bon Jovi is one of a few bands that can say they had hits in every decade since they started back in 1984 and nearly every album they have released has debuted in the Top 10 and their latest album made it to number 3 on the ARIA Charts here in Australia. Yeah. There was a period where a lot of Melodic Rock/ AOR and Glam Metal bands were wiped out or struggled to get albums released but then in the mid to late 00s we started getting a lot of new bands from Europe bringing those genres back like H.E.A.T., Work of Art, Brother Firetribe, Wig Wam, 7th Heaven, Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx, Last Autumn's Dream, Eclipse, The Poodles, Khymera, Terra Nova, Babylon Bombs, Vains of Jenna, AOR and Dante Fox and the older bands started making comebacks and releasing new albums and Journey's 'Revelation' album with their new lead singer, Arnel Pineda was their biggest selling album since the 80s along with Foreigner's 'Can't Slow Down' album and 'Toto's 'XIV' in 2015 which made the Top 10 in multiple countries and now we have more Melodic Rock and Glam Metal albums being released than there were in the 80s. Yeah, techno and dance, I guess is just as with any other music genre, some you love, some you don't. It is kind of funny, how the 80s would hit back, with full force, during the late 90s and far into the 00s. As it has so often been described and ridiculed, over and over, as the "worst" decade, of all time, when it comes to music, fashion and trends. But every other new song or movie I seem to hear or watch, still has that 80s retro vibe going very strong. I mean it is nice and all, but sometimes I feel the whole retro trend seem to underestimate the music and movies of the 80s, and that they just throw in a lot references, some neon lights, synthesizers and big hair, and suddenly it is how "everybody" looked or sounded for about 10 years. Which is of course, as with any decade, far away of the truth. Yeah. I heard Craig Nicholls had Asperger's Syndrome but that didn't excuse his violent behaviour or being a prick to people and my Brother In Law has Asperger's and wouldn't hurt a fly and I think with Craig there was a lot more going on than we know but he has said to have made up with his family now and gotten his life back on track and he has gone on to say in interviews he regrets a lot of his past behaviour which is good to see him owning up to and the Vines are still together. It is interesting how some Artists and Bands can be really big and then do things like that and their careers will go down the drain and I forgot to mention Bobby Brown was one of those Artists who never really recovered from the bad reputation he got for being abusive and violent and he had a lot of hits out in the 1980s and early 1990s like 'Every Little Step', 'My Prerogative', 'Roni', 'Don't Be Cruel', 'Two Can Play That Game', 'Get Away' and 'Girl Next Door' New Edition and it is rare when we hear him on the radio or see him on music channels now despite having multiple hits and one band I don't think gets the praise and acknowledgement they deserve 'cause Liam and Noel's bad reputations is Oasis and Oasis are one of the biggest selling Rock and British bands of all time and had heaps of hits out in the 90s and 00s and they were bigger than Nirvana and a lot of boy bands that were around the same time that a lot of Music Critics still praise but are often let out of conversations now because of Liam and Noel's bad attitudes which is a shame 'cause I think they have a lot of great songs and some of their B-Sides are just as good if not better than their singles.
It is a shame Liam and Noel not getting along caused the band to break up. Although I have surprisingly really liked Liam's solo albums and everybody used to say Noel was the one with the talent but 'As You Were' shows Liam is very talented too and I think we will see them get back together one day 'cause a lot of bands that have broken up always get back together and I think the Beatles would have too at some point had John Lennon not been murdered since him and Paul were getting on with each other again and I liked how the Eagles called their reunion album, 'Hell Freezes Over' 'cause they said when they broke up they wouldn't get back together until that. Bobby Brown, that is a name I guess is most remembered, because of the Frank Zappa hit single, which actually got so big in Norway, that it ended up as one of the most selling singles of 1979 in my country, and then re-released back in 1991, where it almost made it the top of the charts, for a second time. I think I read somewhere, that Zappa got so tired during the heyday of that tune, as a lot of his new audience, only arrived, cause of that hit single, so he decided to play the same song, for the entire show. Well, I guess those who asked for it, surely got it. I believe also Nirvana did something similar, in their peak days with Smells Like Teen Spirit, and got annoyed of people only coming to hear that one song, so they just kept on playing it, and yeah, kind of sad in a funny way, as when you have two so different type of artists, but with such a rich display of variaty and so many other great songs, and then you have people only wanting to hear one song, but at least they paid for hearing their favorite, getting a bit of re-play, live, which I think is not something that happens too often. Anyway, Bobby Brown, the artist. I only know of, through some of his late 80s hits, and the song which got included to the Ghostbusters II (1989) soundtrack, one I actually liked very much, both film and song. Somehow it seems like many still has a rather negative attitude towards Ghostbusters 2, but I still enjoyed it, very much. I only have about 2-3 albums of Oasis, but as of lately, I have started digging back into my rather small portion of "Britpop" releases, where as I have just been through with a couple of Blur records. I guess Pulp and Suede, where kind of more of those I liked, where as the whole hype train, surrounding Oasis and Blur, through the british media, back in the 90s, as the next huge rock acts, where not something that got me into either one of them. But I certainly have enjoyed several of the Oasis songs, specially from their first two albums, but around the time they released their third one, I guess the long awaited "masterpiece", which seemed to get perfect reviews, even before it had been released to the music stores, it did not take long, until the positive feedback, all of a sudden, got very nasty, even among some of the die hard Oasis fans. Blur however, seemed to do everything they could, to get away of the Britpop name, and I thought they put out some very interesting albums, later on. Anyway, the rivalry between the two groups, always seemed to be rather "friendly", but of course, the media made well use of it, and I guess so did the artists as well. What I respect about these british rock bands, is that they were a part of a cultural change, when I guess the british just got fed up, with all the american music and fashion, dominating, and decided to take up on the challenge, and do their own thing, which for a while, really hit off well. Britpop, big british movies and movie stars, the whole Premier League era, surely were getting bigger and bigger, and then it exploded, when David Beckham became as popular, as some of the biggest pop and movie stars in the world, and it was not just because all these people were good looking, but they backed it up with talent and the will to succeed. And for a while, Britain really were back again, as the dominant giant in the music and movie business. Well, I guess that is it for today but always nice chatting up with you, and I am thinking of re-listening to the first two Oasis albums, along with the rest of my Blur CDs, as I am sure there is a reason to why I kept them, for all these years. Anyway, have nice weekend, and take care. Hello Stefancrosscoe
Yeah. A life without music definitely wouldn’t be the same ‘cause music has been a big of my life and even our pets love music and our Malshis (Occy and Sally) will roll on their backs sometimes and kick their arms and legs up in the air and make noises like they are dancing songs they like () and over the past year we have seen a lot of movies, TV Shows and Video Games put on hold and pushed back to the next year ‘cause of the Coronavirus but a lot of new albums and singles have still been getting released which has been one of the few good things and 2020 had some albums I really enjoyed and I am even more excited about this year and will be buying a lot of new albums. The 70s and 80s were a great time for music and a lot of my friends love the songs from those decades too and they were a time when mainstream radio played more variety including some Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands which you would never hear now and the ‘Grunge Explosion’ was used to wipe a lot of genres off the radio in the 90s and while I liked some Grunge bands I don’t feel the genre was as good as Melodic Rock/AOR, New Wave and Glam Metal and would have preferred those genres to stay on radio longer.
That is interesting how re-watching ‘The Frighteners’ lead to you buying Blue Oyster Cult albums and I have seen that movie and the band that covered ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’ in it were a New Zealand band called the Mutton Birds and I have bought a few albums by Artists and Bands I have discovered in movies and TV Shows too and there are some movies that are more well-known for the songs that were in them than the actual movies themselves like ‘Electric Dreams’ which had the song, ‘Together In Electric Dreams’ by Phillip Oakley from the Human League in it and become a huge hit around the world in 1984 and is still played on Classic Rock stations now while the movie seems to be forgotten and a lot of people think it was a Human League single. Did you know Patti Smith performed backup vocals on a number of songs on Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Agents of Fortune’ album and she also co-wrote a few of the songs including one which was left off the album called ‘Fire of Unknown Origin’ and they took the song and sped it up and had Eric sing it and it became the title track of another one of their albums a few years later but you can hear the original version by Albert on the Remastered editions.
I am sorry to hear you don’t have any music stores open in your town at the moment and back when we had the Shutdown here last year some record stores inside of shopping centres stayed open here along with a few other stores while the ones not inside shopping centres had to close and JBHIFI was one that surprisingly stayed open and come under fire for having its employees working through the Shutdown and there were Politicians arguing over what stores should be seen as essential and what ones should be closed. I hope you enjoy the albums if you get them and I forgot to ask you when we were talking about that live Todd Rundgren song you posted do you like getting live album and DVDs ‘cause some people find live albums a waste of money if they already own all the songs on the studio albums but we have quite a few and I like music DVDs and Blu Ray’s that have all the music videos by the Artists and Bands too. Yeah. Some genres you like and others you don’t and I am not a big fan of Death Metal and Metal with much screaming and growling in it either but I really like the Symphonic, Power and Progressive Metal subgenres with and Progressive Metal has more of a classic sound to it and a lot of people I know that weren’t Metal fans like it ‘cause it is so different than the sound they associate the Heavy Metal genre with.
It is amusing how the 80s hit back years later and become popular again and I remember there were a lot of people that used to ridicule the decade and made fun of the things you mentioned but now I find there are more that like it than hate it including young people that were born after it and it’s not just nostalgic fans missing the 80s but people who wish they grew up in it. I understand what you are saying with the retro trend though and it won’t be long before we get a 90s retro trend next () but we are seeing a lot of 80s influenced movies and TV Shows now too and ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ was a good example of that with it set in the 80s instead of now. I didn’t know Frank Zappa had a ‘Bobby Brown’ song () but I know a few Frank Zappa songs and my Uncle is a fan of his and did you know Steve Vai started out in the Frank Zappa band and was a transcriptionist for him? I heard Nirvana got annoyed over people only wanting to hear them perform ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ in concerts too and the Cardigans were like that with ‘Lovefool’ and Nina hated the song ‘cause they had more hits than any other Swedish band since ABBA but anytime they went to America people only wanted to hear them play that song.
Back to Bobby Brown he actually had two songs in ‘Ghostbusters 2’ and the one you were most likely thinking about was ‘On Our Own’ and the other was ‘We’re Back’ and I think ‘On Our Own’ was even better than the ‘Ghostbusters’ theme song by Ray Parker Jr but then I am one of the few people you might meet that liked the second movie more than the first and I really liked the 2009 video game too and would have liked to have seen that as a movie. I don't know if you played it but they got most of the original cast back including Harold Ramis before he died to play the voices again and it was based on the script Harold Ramis and Dan Akroyd wrote for 'Ghostbusters 3' that was supposed to happen in the 90s but never did 'cause Bill Murray had a falling out with Harold Ramis for a number of years. The song I remember being played the most by Bobby Brown here was 'Every Little Step' and it was very popular when it came out but like most of his other songs isn't played anymore and he would probably be more famous now had it not been for the things he done 'cause as a singer and songwriter he wasn't bad. What Oasis albums do you have? If you haven't got it I would highly reccomend buying 'The Masterplan.' It was by far their best album in my opinion and had a lot of great songs like 'Going Nowhere', 'Talk Tonight', 'Underneath the Sky', 'Fade Away', 'The Masterplan', 'Half the World Away', 'Rockin' Chair' and 'It's Good To Be Free' and it is a B-Sides collection but many fans love it just as much as their first three studio albums and think it shows how good their B-Sides were.
Funny enough two of the songs their record label didn't think were good enough for ('What's the Story) Morning Glory' were released as singles over a decade later and become number one hits in the UK. It really is surprising how many good B-Sides and Unreleased tracks Oasis had and I would probably reccomend all their albums if you like the first three 'cause a lot of people talk about 'Definitely Maybe', ('What's the Story) Morning Glory' and 'Be Here Now' but the other albums had a fair share of good songs on them too and 'Go Let It Out' from 'Standing on the Shoulder of Giants' was one of my favs along with 'Little By Little' from 'Heathen Chemistry' which you can see below. I like Blur too and they had some good songs and do you like Ronan Keating 'cause interestingly enough he let out Boyzone was supposed to be a Rock band like Oasis and the Stone Roses and that was the type of music they loved but their record label wanted them to be a Boy Band and gave them a lame name and I wasn't a big Boyzone fan or a fan of boy bands in general but I like Ronan's solo albums and have seen him in concert and met him and it would be fun to hear them release an album with their Rock songs. Anyways, It has been nice talking to you again and I hope you enjoy the rest of the week.

Hello Stefancrosscoe Yeah. My mum had two cats (the female, sadly died last year) and where the ladycat, would always be very interested in what went on tv, specially nature/animal shows. She would be all glued, to the screen. While the male cat, he could not care any less. I used to have a dog when I was a kid, and she would barely look at the tv screen, but when she farted, she would get all excited, and still never could tell where the sounds or smells would came from. I think a lot of the bands who were "wiped out", probably only had themselves to blame, that or it was just the harsh reality of how the music business work, when they found something new and cool, the ones who were the real deal yesterday, is gone tomorrow. More or less. Many of the "hair metal" bands, had probably either disbanded or just not put out great or commercially successful music, for a while, and some I think, even tried to jump on the grunge/alterantive rock band wagon, which made them look and sound even more desperate or tame, specially in comparison, to the more explosive and "dangerous" sounds of all the new and younger bands. Thankfully, there were those, who seemed to come out, much stronger, even if they kind of went "underground", for a while. It is kind of funny, that even today, not that many grunge or alternative early 90s rock songs, is played all that often. I mean, even some of the biggest acts of that period, like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Hole, they are not getting as much airtime, as 70s and 80s metal and hard rock bands, and which is kind of sad, as the ones mentioned, did have one hell of a bunch of hit singles, but maybe the love for grunge is not all that big these days. Smashing Pumpkins however, not sure if they fit the grunge tag, but even they are not too frequently played either. Then again, maybe it is just me, or I am in need to change my radio and tv stations. Oh yeah, I actually got into the movie Electric Dreams (1984), only because the main theme, was included on a The Human League CD compilation, and yeah, I also thought it were a Human League song, but of course, it sure has that classic Giorgio Moroder sound to it. The film, well, I still own it, but have not seen it for years. A pretty cute, but still somewhat, underwhelming romantic sci-fi/comedy, which actually had some potential, for going a bit "darker", with the computer "stalking" or getting a bit aggressive, in the way it tries to win over, Virginia Madsen. I remember the film, actually got a bit of an "uprising", when a similar themed film (well, similar and similar) Her (2014), featured a human/computer love-relationship, but of course, that one, was far better executed. But Electric Dreams, is one of those lesser known 80s films, which I am still kind of glad, I got around to. Patti Smith had such a seductive and sultry voice, on some of the cuts, on Agents of Fortune. I still have not gotten around, to listen to a few of her own albums, but I do own at least 2-3 CDs. Well, finally some great news, at least when most of the regular stores, shopping centers and so on, finally re-opened (after 3-4 months) this thursday. And today, I went into the city, and immediately located the only two (that I kind of feel is up my alley, so to speak) good music and movie stores left, and picked up a small bunch of movies and music albums (a late 80s Cocteau Twins album, and two movie soundtracks. One by John Barry, the James Bond, A View to a Kill score, and the soundtrack to Kingpin, which I believed, I did mention, featured the great song, I Saw the Light, by Todd Rundgren. And thankfully, the official CD version, comes with that song, and most of the best or memorable cuts from the film). I kind of went a bit "overboard", some of the films, were a bit too "pricy", but what the heck? I had not been downtown, and purchased films and albums, since late fall of 2020, so I thought it was about time, to do a little shopping. Hopefully, I might have found some new favorites, here and there. When it comes to live albums/DVDs/Blu-rays, I guess The Last Waltz (1977) is hard to beat, but Talk Talk and Live at Montreaux (1986) along with Roy Orbison: A Black and White Night (1987) is surely some of my favorite live shows. Just so much great music, and the performances, is fantastic. Yeah, when it comes to the whole "real" metal sound, or something like that, I always tend to think of Spinal Tap. As in Norway, there is still a small but very "hard" group of "true" Black Metal fans or devoters, and where the lesser known and harder to understand, the better it is. Some seems to hate bands, only because they have bandnames and logos, which you could easily read, and yeah, I guess some of those, might just show up, in all kind of different metal or music genres, from time to time. I never got around to complete the 2009 video game (I actually got stuck, and then a few others games, were kind of tempting, and then I either lost it, or it got away from me, somehow) . Still, it was nice for a short while, to see or hear the old gang, getting back together. I only wish the third film, would have taken place during the early 90s, but for me, I can happily live on, with the first two films, the one from 2016, well, I did not hate it, but, kind of like to forget about it. I own the first three studio albums of Oasis, and should probably head back to the beginning, and see where it might lead me. Yeah, I remember having heard lots of praise, of their b-sides, which were supposed to be just as good, or even better, than their hit singles. You know, of all the boy bands of the 90s, Boyzone were probably along with Take That, two of those, that I never had any "issues" with. Sure, they had lots of, well, not my kind of music, but also had some really great ones, and they where not as "manufactured" as so many others, I always laugh, when I saw some MTV live performance of Boyzone, during their peak days, and one of the memebers looked a bit tubby, and drunk, but still managed to pick up his dance moves, and where as one of the other, almost got into a fight with Puff Daddy, who supposedly (according to the many rumours and stories) ran away from the "fight", only to have his bodyguards take the heat. Not exactly a very "brave" and "tough" move, from such a bad boy persona, running from a boy band member. But then again, I believe it was the biggest guy from Boyzone, and he sure looked like one you did not want to mess with. Never knew that about Ronan and wanting to be more of a rock act, than pop band, but I guess they were not all that sorry, for how things turned out, as they were surely one of the biggest names, during the mid 90s, and he did have some hit singles on his own, a few years later. Now, I have to take a little break. But I will be sure to catch up with you, maybe adding a few thoughts on the music or movies I recently purchased. Until then, be sure to enjoy your weekend, and have a good time.

Hi stefancrosscoe
Sorry for the unexpected delay but one of our friends came over on Sunday and I didn’t have time to post on the forum like I thought I would after I finished replying to emails but I hope you had a great weekend and I have been having a good week myself with the exception of some internet problems that have been causing me to drop in and out today and I’m not sure what has been causing them to happen but we had similar problems earlier this year. I am glad you haven’t had any encounters with the aggressive and hostile people ‘cause it doesn’t take much for them to become violent and I think some of the panic shoppers were just out looking to pick fights with other people and I think fighting over basic essentials is dumb and if someone got violent with me over toilet paper or tissues I would just give it to them and tell them to go ‘cause I am not a violent person and when the panic shoppers were at their worst here last year we had just had all these people come together to raise money for the victims of the fires and we went from seeing the best of humanity to the worst in a short time.
Then we do have the ones you mentioned that will act tough and bully people online ‘cause they can hide behind the anonymity factor but wouldn’t say half the mean things they write to people face to face ‘cause they are cowards and they are sadly becoming more common now with more of us using the internet due to Lockdowns and having too much time on their hands. Some of them bully actors and singers in hopes of getting their five minutes of fame like one who recently bullied one of my favourite actresses (Sydney Sweeney) who you can see in my avatar and called her ugly and a whole string of other nasty names reducing her to tears in a live video the other day and they get a kick out of doing that and love the attention they get from doing it too. I think the pandemic has brought up some nastiness to the surface and showed people’s true colours but it has also brought some people closer together despite social distancing rules and we had families here that didn’t spend much time together but were together every day during the Shutdown that said the Coronavirus had reminded them family was the most important thing to them and it is nice hearing stories like that.

Paranoid people can be rather strange lot and I can’t say I have seen any like the ones you described but I have heard about them and there are some crazy people who believe our governments created the virus so they can put chips inside of us and watch everything we are doing and they refuse to get tested or have the vaccines for that reason and I am not a fan of the government but I think some of them have seen too many movies and their paranoia has run wild. Thanks for answering my question about your Lockdown and when our Shutdown ended last year and the Premiers were removing the restrictions they had limits on how many people they could have in certain places and every time the restrictions were eased further back the numbers increased but there was some controversy over it ‘cause they played favourties and let Football events for example have more people attend than any other sports while Artists and Bands couldn’t even perform in front of 50-100 people at the time and did your Politicians play favourites with some things? Another thing that got a lot of complaints from people was how some of our Premiers treated celebrities and our New South Wales Premier and the Queensland Premier let certain celebrities come and go whenever they pleased and they didn’t have to always quarantine and the ones that did got to stay in their own places.
Tom Hanks was one of those celebrities along with his Wife and they come here to Australia with the Coronavirus and spread it around until he started having symptoms of the virus and got tested and if they had tested them like normal people when they come into Australia they would have discovered that much sooner but celebrities get treated differently. I imagine you would be missing going to the gym if you went regularly and that is good you got your bicycle and it is fun going for a ride on those but like you I prefer to run or walk and have you got a treadmill ‘cause we got one of those and I use it often except for when I am sick. I forgot to mention when you were saying about Weezer they just released another new album called ‘Van Weezer’ and I am going to get it today and I read it is a Hard Rock album similar to the style of Van Halen and Kiss which makes me interested in hearing what the new songs sound like and I’m still surprised they are releasing another album so soon after they just released ‘Okay Human’ earlier this year and I liked some of the songs on that. Nancy Wilson from Heart has just released a new solo album too and Paul Weller has a new album called 'Fat Pop' and have you heard of him? He was the lead singer of the Jam and the Style Council but I think some of his best work has been as a solo Artist with songs like 'Above the Clouds (below) and he has changed his style a lot over the years.
I listened to XTC’s ‘Skylarking’ album a couple of times and I enjoyed a number of the tracks on it like ‘That’s Really Super, Supergirl, ‘Summer’s Cauldron’, ‘Seasons Cycle’, ‘Big Day’ and ‘Mermaid Smiled’ and thank you for introducing me to that album. I had no idea they performed a ‘Supergirl’ song () and I am a longtime fan of Supergirl but the only other song I have heard with Supergirl in it is Killing Heidi’s ‘Superman/Supergirl’ which you can hear below and was one of their hit singles here on their debut album, ‘Reflector.’
Thanks for sharing that story about your uncle and his love for movies and movie and music collection and I think your Cousin is right about him wanting you to have them and I know I want my Nieces and Nephew to have a lot of my things when I die especially my Pokemon things which my Niece (Courtney) will be getting since she is a big Pokemon fan. By getting them you also have a little piece of your uncle in a way to remind you of the good memories you had with him and I would have loved to have got more of my Grandfather's things and photos of my Sister and I with my Grandfather and Grandmother but the chances of that ever happening are slim now since my Mother has them and I haven't spoken to her in over 20 years and have no plans to start again now but my Aunt was able to get my Sister and I some things. My Grandfather left a lot of money to my Sister and I when he passed away and we didn't get any of it 'cause our parents kept it from us but I don't care about the money anymore and care more about photos. We have got Netflix on Foxtel here and they done a special deal with our pay TV company (Foxtel) last year so we can watch it on there which made it easier for us to get. That's good some of your shops are opening again and I look forward to hearing from you again and your latest music and movie purchases and I will talk to you again on Friday.

Nothing to say sorry for, as I have not been too busy on this forum, as of lately. But I will always try to read through posts/replies, and then answer/post when I got the time. Yeah, I had a pretty good weekend, great weather, managed to pick up a few movies and albums during my visit to the city, but almost got stuck (just my luck) in a demonstration, that featured lots of police and a big portion of the area where I was heading for, got closed down, so it all of a sudden, got a bit "interesting". The weird thing, is that a similar happening, took place, almost exact a year ago, but then, it was much more people gathered, and I believe it turned very bad, with lots of people breaking and destroying property, thankfully not many got hurt or attacked, but such a stupid way of "demonstrating". The music and movie store, I went to, was located just a couple of meters away, and I left the area, before it started, but it supposedly went rather peaceful. I remember about a year or less ago, people soon turned on their own, through all kind of "shaming", where those who traveled to their cottages/cabins during easter holiday, or went to the gym, or went jogging/running, all become this weeks new "victims", at lesst towards those, who felt it was their job, of shaming and naming other people, who they felt broke the way of how "everybody" should behave and live like, during lockdown. I still went for my weekly outdoor running sessions, but I am glad I live next to the forest as my closest neighbor, and always kept distance and usually trained during hours of the day, when I knew that there would not be fully packed of large crowds in the same area, where I were heading for. However, down in the inner city parks, things sure heated up, much "thanks" to some ridiculous writers, who seemed to almost label runners and bikers, as potential "killers", and it soon backfired, but for a while, these people only contributed more hate and anger, and having people going up against each other, instead of the opposite. As you mentioned, the best in people, turned into the worst, for some, and where this trend of monitoring and blaming/shaming and naming others, is just a very poor and nasty way of bullying. The many hateful and nasty "comments" on social media, is sadly something which will continue on, but hopefully those who is behind many of that kind of behavior, will eventually not always get to hide so cowardly behind some anonymous username, as I think I have still not seen one comment section, in most news articles, that is not overcrowded, by these hateful comments, and the ones who comes up with all that raw seweage, day after day, they must really have a "great" life. An rather interesting, yet sad norwegian article or documentary, a few years ago, about many of those, hiding behind false usernames, only to spew out hatred and nasty stuff, turned out that most of the ones doing so, were not kids or teenagers, as many seemed to believe. In fact, a large number, were men and females, in the age group, between 50 and 70 years old, and some would spend hours after hours, a day, on just writing and coming up with all kind of ugly and evil stuff, and to know, that probably a lot of them, are either parents or grandparents, their kids must be so "proud" of how they spend their days doing. I guess it is kind of naive and unrealistic thought, but I always liked the: "If you do not have anything nice to say about someone, then just keep it to yourself."Sure, easier said than done, but these days, that is something which could be brought up, a whole lot more often. Speaking of the differences in sports and music/movie business, there has been a lot of heated discussions, over football and ski/winter sports (which surely, is the two dominating ones, in Norway), having been taken lighter or getting back much further, than other sporting events, such as ice hockey, handball and a few others. Just this weekend, the norwegian football league, premiered, and in the music and movie scene, there is still a lot of unanswered questions, about when or if certain big shows and music festivals, might happen, but I doubt it will suddenly go ahead as "normal", anytime soon. That's good some of your shops are opening again and I look forward to hearing from you again and your latest music and movie purchases and I will talk to you again on Friday. Yeah, I mean, I can live without the gym, not the end of the world but there are of course, certain things, which a walk/run or biking ride into the forest, just cannot replace, like when going to the gym. But as of right now, I would prefer to do my workout, outdoors, rather than indoors. I do not have a treadmill, but have several times, thought of getting one. But they are often very expensive, or just too big. I did purchase an exercise indoor cycle, which was of good use, for a while, until I got back in shape, to instead focus on running. However, I have from time to time, spend a few hours, here and there, on a treadmill at the gym, but for me, running outdoors, it is just so much more a feeling of "freedom", with constant change in weather, wind and going uphills and downwards, which is of course not something a treadmill could replace, anytime soon, but then again, the more intense workouts, could be done indoors, and it is nice, to just do a bit of exercise in one owns living room, watching some tv or a movie, listening to an album, but at the end of the day, I guess I do prefer to do my running outdoors. What you mentioned about Weezer and a few of the others artists, being very productive and creative, I guess that shows how some makes great use, of this rather special situation, and decides to make the best of it, with what the got, and for fans of the bands and artists, it must be a very interesting and nice time, having so much music to look forward to. I am glad to hear, that Skylarking turned out to be a pleasant ride, and I think the combination of Todd Rundgren's excellent production, and having two so different yet great songwriters as Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding, who both has this talent of coming up with quirky, sweet and charming pop-rock tunes, a great match. Not sure if I have brought it up earlier, but XTC did a nice tribute/parody act, under the name of The Dukes of Stratosphere, which is kind of like a Spinal Tap "time-out" project, that resulted into an EP and studio album, between 1985 and 1987, which surely were a nice way of looking back, at the more psychedelic 60s music era, and included some very funny and catchy songs:
I am sorry about how it ended up between you and your mother. I can however relate, a bit, when it comes to keeping up and holding onto old photos and images, which is something I treasure, but sadly, not everyone in my family feels the same, and it is kind of sad, that all these great photos and memories, are just locked down somewhere, and will most likely not be seen, for a long time. I know that my dad and his sister (my aunt) have divided lots of photos of their parents, but there is just so much missing, and not much interest in trying to bring them back, or make som copies, so that those who would like to enjoy them, might do so.
Still, I am glad, I have so much fond memories of my grandparents, as I know many, who sadly do not remember much of theirs, but I get very nostalgic, whenever I look back at all these photos from my childhood, and remembering the good times.
It is sad, when a relative or close family member dies, but also how money can affect in a negative way, or cause more damage to those left behind. Sadly, that is something which happens, far too often.
By the way, thanks for the songs you posted. I really enjoyed those, and have been meaning of checking into Paul and his music, but better late, than never.
Anyway, hope you have a nice week, and will be sure to catch up with you, later on.
