Hello Stefancrosscoe Yeah. A life without music definitely wouldn’t be the same ‘cause music has been a big of my life and even our pets love music and our Malshis (Occy and Sally) will roll on their backs sometimes and kick their arms and legs up in the air and make noises like they are dancing songs they like () and over the past year we have seen a lot of movies, TV Shows and Video Games put on hold and pushed back to the next year ‘cause of the Coronavirus but a lot of new albums and singles have still been getting released which has been one of the few good things and 2020 had some albums I really enjoyed and I am even more excited about this year and will be buying a lot of new albums. The 70s and 80s were a great time for music and a lot of my friends love the songs from those decades too and they were a time when mainstream radio played more variety including some Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands which you would never hear now and the ‘Grunge Explosion’ was used to wipe a lot of genres off the radio in the 90s and while I liked some Grunge bands I don’t feel the genre was as good as Melodic Rock/AOR, New Wave and Glam Metal and would have preferred those genres to stay on radio longer. My mum had two cats (the female, sadly died last year) and where the ladycat, would always be very interested in what went on tv, specially nature/animal shows. She would be all glued, to the screen. While the male cat, he could not care any less. I used to have a dog when I was a kid, and she would barely look at the tv screen, but when she farted, she would get all excited, and still never could tell where the sounds or smells would came from. I think a lot of the bands who were "wiped out", probably only had themselves to blame, that or it was just the harsh reality of how the music business work, when they found something new and cool, the ones who were the real deal yesterday, is gone tomorrow. More or less. Many of the "hair metal" bands, had probably either disbanded or just not put out great or commercially successful music, for a while, and some I think, even tried to jump on the grunge/alterantive rock band wagon, which made them look and sound even more desperate or tame, specially in comparison, to the more explosive and "dangerous" sounds of all the new and younger bands. Thankfully, there were those, who seemed to come out, much stronger, even if they kind of went "underground", for a while. It is kind of funny, that even today, not that many grunge or alternative early 90s rock songs, is played all that often. I mean, even some of the biggest acts of that period, like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Hole, they are not getting as much airtime, as 70s and 80s metal and hard rock bands, and which is kind of sad, as the ones mentioned, did have one hell of a bunch of hit singles, but maybe the love for grunge is not all that big these days. Smashing Pumpkins however, not sure if they fit the grunge tag, but even they are not too frequently played either. Then again, maybe it is just me, or I am in need to change my radio and tv stations. That is interesting how re-watching ‘The Frighteners’ lead to you buying Blue Oyster Cult albums and I have seen that movie and the band that covered ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’ in it were a New Zealand band called the Mutton Birds and I have bought a few albums by Artists and Bands I have discovered in movies and TV Shows too and there are some movies that are more well-known for the songs that were in them than the actual movies themselves like ‘Electric Dreams’ which had the song, ‘Together In Electric Dreams’ by Phillip Oakley from the Human League in it and become a huge hit around the world in 1984 and is still played on Classic Rock stations now while the movie seems to be forgotten and a lot of people think it was a Human League single. Did you know Patti Smith performed backup vocals on a number of songs on Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Agents of Fortune’ album and she also co-wrote a few of the songs including one which was left off the album called ‘Fire of Unknown Origin’ and they took the song and sped it up and had Eric sing it and it became the title track of another one of their albums a few years later but you can hear the original version by Albert on the Remastered editions. Oh yeah, I actually got into the movie Electric Dreams (1984), only because the main theme, was included on a The Human League CD compilation, and yeah, I also thought it were a Human League song, but of course, it sure has that classic Giorgio Moroder sound to it. The film, well, I still own it, but have not seen it for years. A pretty cute, but still somewhat, underwhelming romantic sci-fi/comedy, which actually had some potential, for going a bit "darker", with the computer "stalking" or getting a bit aggressive, in the way it tries to win over, Virginia Madsen. I remember the film, actually got a bit of an "uprising", when a similar themed film (well, similar and similar) Her (2014), featured a human/computer love-relationship, but of course, that one, was far better executed. But Electric Dreams, is one of those lesser known 80s films, which I am still kind of glad, I got around to. Patti Smith had such a seductive and sultry voice, on some of the cuts, on Agents of Fortune. I still have not gotten around, to listen to a few of her own albums, but I do own at least 2-3 CDs. I am sorry to hear you don’t have any music stores open in your town at the moment and back when we had the Shutdown here last year some record stores inside of shopping centres stayed open here along with a few other stores while the ones not inside shopping centres had to close and JBHIFI was one that surprisingly stayed open and come under fire for having its employees working through the Shutdown and there were Politicians arguing over what stores should be seen as essential and what ones should be closed. I hope you enjoy the albums if you get them and I forgot to ask you when we were talking about that live Todd Rundgren song you posted do you like getting live album and DVDs ‘cause some people find live albums a waste of money if they already own all the songs on the studio albums but we have quite a few and I like music DVDs and Blu Ray’s that have all the music videos by the Artists and Bands too. Yeah. Some genres you like and others you don’t and I am not a big fan of Death Metal and Metal with much screaming and growling in it either but I really like the Symphonic, Power and Progressive Metal subgenres with and Progressive Metal has more of a classic sound to it and a lot of people I know that weren’t Metal fans like it ‘cause it is so different than the sound they associate the Heavy Metal genre with. Well, finally some great news, at least when most of the regular stores, shopping centers and so on, finally re-opened (after 3-4 months) this thursday. And today, I went into the city, and immediately located the only two (that I kind of feel is up my alley, so to speak) good music and movie stores left, and picked up a small bunch of movies and music albums (a late 80s Cocteau Twins album, and two movie soundtracks. One by John Barry, the James Bond, A View to a Kill score, and the soundtrack to Kingpin, which I believed, I did mention, featured the great song, I Saw the Light, by Todd Rundgren. And thankfully, the official CD version, comes with that song, and most of the best or memorable cuts from the film). I kind of went a bit "overboard", some of the films, were a bit too "pricy", but what the heck? I had not been downtown, and purchased films and albums, since late fall of 2020, so I thought it was about time, to do a little shopping. Hopefully, I might have found some new favorites, here and there. When it comes to live albums/DVDs/Blu-rays, I guess The Last Waltz (1977) is hard to beat, but Talk Talk and Live at Montreaux (1986) along with Roy Orbison: A Black and White Night (1987) is surely some of my favorite live shows. Just so much great music, and the performances, is fantastic. Yeah, when it comes to the whole "real" metal sound, or something like that, I always tend to think of Spinal Tap. As in Norway, there is still a small but very "hard" group of "true" Black Metal fans or devoters, and where the lesser known and harder to understand, the better it is. Some seems to hate bands, only because they have bandnames and logos, which you could easily read, and yeah, I guess some of those, might just show up, in all kind of different metal or music genres, from time to time. I never got around to complete the 2009 video game (I actually got stuck, and then a few others games, were kind of tempting, and then I either lost it, or it got away from me, somehow) . Still, it was nice for a short while, to see or hear the old gang, getting back together. I only wish the third film, would have taken place during the early 90s, but for me, I can happily live on, with the first two films, the one from 2016, well, I did not hate it, but, kind of like to forget about it. I own the first three studio albums of Oasis, and should probably head back to the beginning, and see where it might lead me. Yeah, I remember having heard lots of praise, of their b-sides, which were supposed to be just as good, or even better, than their hit singles. You know, of all the boy bands of the 90s, Boyzone were probably along with Take That, two of those, that I never had any "issues" with. Sure, they had lots of, well, not my kind of music, but also had some really great ones, and they where not as "manufactured" as so many others, I always laugh, when I saw some MTV live performance of Boyzone, during their peak days, and one of the memebers looked a bit tubby, and drunk, but still managed to pick up his dance moves, and where as one of the other, almost got into a fight with Puff Daddy, who supposedly (according to the many rumours and stories) ran away from the "fight", only to have his bodyguards take the heat. Not exactly a very "brave" and "tough" move, from such a bad boy persona, running from a boy band member. But then again, I believe it was the biggest guy from Boyzone, and he sure looked like one you did not want to mess with. Never knew that about Ronan and wanting to be more of a rock act, than pop band, but I guess they were not all that sorry, for how things turned out, as they were surely one of the biggest names, during the mid 90s, and he did have some hit singles on his own, a few years later. Now, I have to take a little break. But I will be sure to catch up with you, maybe adding a few thoughts on the music or movies I recently purchased. Until then, be sure to enjoy your weekend, and have a good time. Hi stefancrosscoe
Sorry to hear about your Mum's cat. Yeah. It is funny how some cats and dogs will react to music and sounds on the TV while others don’t and it is like how some are afraid of storms and loud bang noises and will hide underneath things for protection until they have stopped but others are unfazed by them and I forgot to mention there are certain voices on the TV that will set our Malshis off and they will bark and growl over them and I am not sure why but it can be rather startling when we are sitting down watching the TV and a character speaks and Occy and Sally will randomly jump up and run over towards the TV barking ferociously at it and growling and when we tell them to stop it or be quiet they make these little cry sounds like they are saying “But Mum…” and they hate the ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua movies and they don’t mind other dog movies like the ‘Buddies’ movies but when Beccy and I have tried to watch them we have had to turn them off ‘cause they barked through them and I think it must be something the dogs are saying in those movies they understand that upsets them so much.
I have seen some dogs do what your dog done () and some will fart and look at you like you did it ‘cause they can’t believe it was them and my Uncle loves farting and telling fart jokes and he thinks it is a talent to let off really loud and stinky ones and he deliberately waits until everyone is with him to do them and laughs his head off over it and he is always trying to teach our pets bad habits when my Aunt and him are here and my Aunt tells him to behave himself. lol With the Grunge explosion there were a number of Glam Metal bands I remember that tried to switch to playing Grunge and they lost more fans doing it ‘cause they alienated the ones that stayed with them and Skid Row was the last of the American Glam Metal bands to have success in the early 90s but after they lost their lead singer, Sebastian Bach were never able to recapture their success. Some 70s and 80s Rock Artists and bands were still able to pull through with big hits in the early 90s like Bon Jovi and Aerosmith who we were just talking before and there was John Farnham’s ‘Burn For You’, The Pretenders’ ‘I’ll Stand By You’, ‘Heart’s ‘All I Want to Do Is Make Love to You’, ‘Scorpions ‘Wind of Change’, Alice Cooper’s ‘Poison’, ‘The Cure’s ‘Friday I’m In Love’, ‘Kiss’ ‘Forever’ and ‘Billy Joel’s ‘The River of Dreams’ that all got a lot of airplay here in the early 90s but Grunge was largely the end of Glam Metal and New Wave getting mainstream airplay.
The problem with Grunge was I don’t think it was ever really accepted by the mainstream and that is one of the reasons a lot of the Bands aren’t played on radio stations today and when you look back it was actually the Alternative Rock bands that came after Grunge and were influenced by it but took a more mainstream approach like Better Than Ezra, Collective Soul, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Offspring, No Doubt, Tonic, Veruca Salt, Stone Temple Pilots, Live, Soul Asylum, Garbage, Oasis, Blur, Ash, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Matchbox 20, Bif Naked, Everclear, Counting Crows, Smash Mouth etc that were the ones that ended up on top of the Rock charts for most of the 1990s but even a lot of those aren’t played on radio much anymore or acknowledged by Music Journalists ‘cause they prefer to focus on Britney Spears, Mariah Carey the Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child and Boy Bands despite them being very popular and a lot of Classic Rock Radio Stations look at Grunge the same way they look at Metal and are worried playing bands like Alice In Chains and Iron Maiden will turn listeners who prefer to hear Elton John, David Bowie, The Eagles and Chicago away if they play it ‘cause of how different it is.
When Glam Metal came back in the 00s a lot of the newer bands like Wig Wam, Babylon Bombs, the Poodles, Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx, Vains of Jenna and Dirty Penny said in their interviews they wanted to make Metal fun again like it was when they were young and were sick of all the depressive lyrics that were coming out of American Metal Bands and Glam Metal was a genre everybody could get behind ‘cause it was about living, love, sex, partying and having a good time and a lot of the old Glam Metal bands that hadn’t released new albums since the early 90s started getting back together and putting out new music and touring too and it was a similar story with the new Melodic Rock/ AOR bands that started popping up in the same decade but a lot of them just wanted to play the music they grew up listening to and keep the genre alive for new and old fans and not be forced to sound the way Major record labels wanted them to sound and that is when Frontiers Records started getting a lot of sales and become the number one record label for Melodic Rock and many of the bands the owners were fans of signed with them and Frontiers Records now has the likes of Journey, Whitesnake, Toto, Blue Oyster Cult, Night Ranger, Ted Poley, Styx, Uriah Heep, Richard Marx, Harem Scarem, Joe Lynn Turner, and Yes along with many new Artists and Bands.
Thank you for answering my question about ‘Electric Dreams’ and another movie I was curious if you have seen is ‘Godspell’ ‘cause that is one of my Auntie’s favourite movies and she used to watch it all the time when it was repeated on Galaxy and Foxtel here. lol I remember when I first watched ‘Alias’ in the 00s I found out the actor who played Sydney’s Dad, Jack Bristow (Victor Garber) was the main star of ‘Godspell’ when he was younger and my Aunt couldn’t believe it was him () and as Jack he was a very serious grumpy character and people were scared of him. I agree with you about ‘Electric Dreams’ and it wasn’t bad and is fun to re-watch but it is not surprising the song went on to become more well-known than the movie and there were a lot of movies in the 90s that had popular songs in them that are more well known than the movies now too and I think the Goo Goo Dolls’ ‘Iris’ in ‘City of Angels’ is one of them now even though I liked the movie ‘cause I rarely ever see it replayed here but The Goo Goo Dolls song is still played on radio stations and music channels often.
Some other movies I’m curious if you have seen are ‘That Thing You Do’, ‘Sweetwater’, ‘Grace Of My Heart’, ‘Copacabana’, ‘You Can’t Stop the Music’, ‘Ring of Fire’ and ‘Pure Country 2’ ‘cause those are some music movies I think are worth seeing if you haven’t and some of those were very hard to buy here in Australia until we started shopping online and my Aunt wanted to get ‘Copacabana’ for ages ‘cause she is a big Barry Manilow fan and I finally got it for her when we joined Amazon and she was so happy to have it. I am glad your shops have reopened now and you were able to get some movies and albums from them and I am not sure if I have heard the Cocteau Twins before even though their name sounds familiar but I know the soundtracks you got and I am not really a big fan of scores but I liked the ‘A View To A Kill’ song by Duran Duran and I think that song, ‘The Living Daylights’ by A-HA and ‘Live and Let Die’ by Wings were the best songs from the James Bond movies. Ohh and after the amount of months your stores were closed I don’t think anybody would possibly blame you for going a little overboard with some of the movies you got ‘cause you could finally shop again which is fun.
You should give the ‘Ghostbusters’ game another go one day ‘cause you might get passed where you got stuck on and I often find when I don’t play a game I am stuck on for a long time and play it again I can beat the part I was stuck on and it makes me wonder why I had trouble with it to begin with () but it is a good game and there were actually two different versions of it with different ghosts on the X Box 360 and Nintendo Wii and I got both of them and they released a remastered version for X Box One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2019. I would have liked a third movie in the 90s too with some of the things the game had in it like the Ghost World and demonic spirits and the game went in a more serious Horror direction even though it still had Comedy in it. I wasn’t a huge fan of the 2016 movie either but felt it got a lot of undeserved hate. Thank you for letting me know what albums you have got by Oasis and their B-Sides are very good and Noel sings a lot of them and I think that was also one of the reasons they weren’t included on the studio albums. I hope you are having a good weekend and I'll reply to your other post next time.

Well, the ladycat did grow old, and had a very comforting and nice life, as she were given to my mum, from one of her co-workers, and while she was just a little kitten, she got bullied a lot, by the others siblings, but over time, she grew very confident and became quite "bossy" towards her male cat friend. I guess something about the bullying part, still sat with her, even as she got much older. But yeah, she had a good life, considering all the love she got and care. But yeah, it is sad when it happens, and you realize there is no going back. Oh yeah, I remember well, how my dog used to be very frightened of certain sounds/noises (specially fireworks and thunder, so in a way we had a few of the same fears, as I also never were all that "brave" during thunderclouds or loud and sudden fireworks/noises), while others, would annoy and bring forward the inner "wolf" in her, and yeah, she hated cats (especially the neighbour cat), and sometimes, she got very close to catching a few, while we were off guard. Thankfully, she never hurted them, nor did she got hurt either. But towards humans, she was always cozy and friendly, never once bitten anyone, and I loved coming home from school, and being greeted by a friendly face, who was always glad to see me. My grandfather always joked about farting jokes as well, which did not sit too well, with my grandmother. However, I remember an old friend of my grandfather, had an old dog, and it used to let out some silent "killers", which smelled like, well, nasty stuff, and it took very long time, until the aired cleared it out of the room. And sometimes, the dog would almost look like it was smiling, right afterwards. Like, "Yeah, how do you like that?" My uncle had a few dogs as well, and the last one, also used to let out lots of gas, and sometimes it would stink up the place, so much that you almost craved for some fresh air. But, nobody wanted to tell off the dog, especially my uncle, who was very gentle with animals, but once in a while, he got more than enough of the smelly dog farting, and just told the dog, to be off, and it seemed like it took the message, and disappeared for a long while. With the Grunge explosion there were a number of Glam Metal bands I remember that tried to switch to playing Grunge and they lost more fans doing it ‘cause they alienated the ones that stayed with them and Skid Row was the last of the American Glam Metal bands to have success in the early 90s but after they lost their lead singer, Sebastian Bach were never able to recapture their success. I guess the sudden change in the music climate, with new fashion trends, music genres and so on, would sooner or later also have strucken the biggest acts in the grunge era, and there is no guarantee, that bands like Nirvana would have emerged out of that, still on top with both sales and critical acclaim, but it is sad, that we never got another studio album out of them, as I liked their move away from Nevermind, towards In Utero, which also divided a lot of the fanbase, but that was probably always gonna be the case. I find it interesting, those bands, who kind of got "caught" up, in all of the sudden change, from more metal music dominance, to alternative rock, and where some bands like Alice in Chains or Soundgarden, surely were a bit of both worlds, and came out of it, with huge success, where as others, probably either faded away or just never stood much of a chance. It would be a bit strange or weird, if alternative and more heavy rock music, would "scare" off David Bowie fans. But maybe those who only have heard or like his more pop-friendly stuff during the Lets Dance era, but a lot of the music he did during the late 70s and early 80s, along with Brian Eno and Robert Fripp, surely were of much inspiration towards many of the young and upcoming indie and metal acts of the 80s and 90s, and it is no surprise, as Bowie really hit off, with some very loud and aggressive guitar dominated releases, where specially Fripp were providing some absolute monsterous riffs, along with the "alien" sounds of Eno. Yeah, I guess not many would start up a conversation, when describing or looking back at the grunge era, as "fun", at least in the same way as what fun might have been thought of, only a few years earlier, during the late 80s. But of course, it must have been a blast, to get the chance of going to a show back then, featuring some of those artists, in their prime. At least, before it all went on the commercial radar, and the energy and drive were something new and different, but I guess all of these things, happens in cycles. What is new, is old the next day, and the money men, will soon find something other, to cash in on, for a while, until people get tired of it, or things cool down. I have never seen Godspell, but I might look it up. Sadly, I also has to say the same about the other music related films you brought up. I guess I have my movie work, cut out, for a while. Yep, Iris is still a huge radio hit, and where the film, well, is rarely shown on tv or spoken of. However, I have seen both the german original, and the american remake. Gotta say, I thought both films had their highs and "lows". The german one, was kind of "slow", and I never really cared too much of the characters, but some very beautiful shots and scenery, where as the updated one, is surely very different, but not something I felt hurted the plot. Also I am quite a fan of Denis Franz, so it was nice to see him in one of the roles, as well. Yeah, the Bond movies with John Barry, those just hit home, a bit closer than the ones, without his talent. It felt like the end of a era, when he left off, with The Living Daylights, just a with Roger Moore with A View to a Kill. But I am glad to have started picking up a few of these great sounding 007 soundtracks, and will surely be hunting down a few more, sooner or later. Being stuck in video games, specially ones, where it looks so "easy", and then it all gets everything but that. Could drive one a bit crazy, at times, and yeah, maybe a little time-out, is the way to go, instead of continuing on, being more and more frustrated. Speaking of Cocteau Twins, I cannot say for certain, that you would like or enjoy their music, but I feel at least, for now, after having fallen completely in love with their 1990 album, Heaven or Las Vegas, and picking up their 1988 album, Blue Bell Knoll, I think the best way to describe their music or sound, is breathtakingly dreamy and beautiful, and where these two cuts, have been going on and on, for, well a long time now. I believe they started up, sounding far more heavy, with post-punk music, but moved on, in favor of making what many calls or labels as, "Dream-pop", which is not a bad way of putting it. Suckling the Mender (1988)Fifty-fifty Clown (1990)Anyway, I hope you have a good week, and I got a few days too late, this time. But will try to be a bit more updated, as it have been a few "hectic" days, with the nathional day (17 may) and some family dinners, but thanks for the kind reply, and will be keeping in touch later on.

Hi stefancrosscoe
Sorry for the unexpected delay but one of our friends came over on Sunday and I didn’t have time to post on the forum like I thought I would after I finished replying to emails but I hope you had a great weekend and I have been having a good week myself with the exception of some internet problems that have been causing me to drop in and out today and I’m not sure what has been causing them to happen but we had similar problems earlier this year. I am glad you haven’t had any encounters with the aggressive and hostile people ‘cause it doesn’t take much for them to become violent and I think some of the panic shoppers were just out looking to pick fights with other people and I think fighting over basic essentials is dumb and if someone got violent with me over toilet paper or tissues I would just give it to them and tell them to go ‘cause I am not a violent person and when the panic shoppers were at their worst here last year we had just had all these people come together to raise money for the victims of the fires and we went from seeing the best of humanity to the worst in a short time.
Then we do have the ones you mentioned that will act tough and bully people online ‘cause they can hide behind the anonymity factor but wouldn’t say half the mean things they write to people face to face ‘cause they are cowards and they are sadly becoming more common now with more of us using the internet due to Lockdowns and having too much time on their hands. Some of them bully actors and singers in hopes of getting their five minutes of fame like one who recently bullied one of my favourite actresses (Sydney Sweeney) who you can see in my avatar and called her ugly and a whole string of other nasty names reducing her to tears in a live video the other day and they get a kick out of doing that and love the attention they get from doing it too. I think the pandemic has brought up some nastiness to the surface and showed people’s true colours but it has also brought some people closer together despite social distancing rules and we had families here that didn’t spend much time together but were together every day during the Shutdown that said the Coronavirus had reminded them family was the most important thing to them and it is nice hearing stories like that.

Paranoid people can be rather strange lot and I can’t say I have seen any like the ones you described but I have heard about them and there are some crazy people who believe our governments created the virus so they can put chips inside of us and watch everything we are doing and they refuse to get tested or have the vaccines for that reason and I am not a fan of the government but I think some of them have seen too many movies and their paranoia has run wild. Thanks for answering my question about your Lockdown and when our Shutdown ended last year and the Premiers were removing the restrictions they had limits on how many people they could have in certain places and every time the restrictions were eased further back the numbers increased but there was some controversy over it ‘cause they played favourties and let Football events for example have more people attend than any other sports while Artists and Bands couldn’t even perform in front of 50-100 people at the time and did your Politicians play favourites with some things? Another thing that got a lot of complaints from people was how some of our Premiers treated celebrities and our New South Wales Premier and the Queensland Premier let certain celebrities come and go whenever they pleased and they didn’t have to always quarantine and the ones that did got to stay in their own places.
Nothing to say sorry for, as I have not been too busy on this forum, as of lately. But I will always try to read through posts/replies, and then answer/post when I got the time. Yeah, I had a pretty good weekend, great weather, managed to pick up a few movies and albums during my visit to the city, but almost got stuck (just my luck) in a demonstration, that featured lots of police and a big portion of the area where I was heading for, got closed down, so it all of a sudden, got a bit "interesting". The weird thing, is that a similar happening, took place, almost exact a year ago, but then, it was much more people gathered, and I believe it turned very bad, with lots of people breaking and destroying property, thankfully not many got hurt or attacked, but such a stupid way of "demonstrating". The music and movie store, I went to, was located just a couple of meters away, and I left the area, before it started, but it supposedly went rather peaceful. I remember about a year or less ago, people soon turned on their own, through all kind of "shaming", where those who traveled to their cottages/cabins during easter holiday, or went to the gym, or went jogging/running, all become this weeks new "victims", at lesst towards those, who felt it was their job, of shaming and naming other people, who they felt broke the way of how "everybody" should behave and live like, during lockdown. I still went for my weekly outdoor running sessions, but I am glad I live next to the forest as my closest neighbor, and always kept distance and usually trained during hours of the day, when I knew that there would not be fully packed of large crowds in the same area, where I were heading for. However, down in the inner city parks, things sure heated up, much "thanks" to some ridiculous writers, who seemed to almost label runners and bikers, as potential "killers", and it soon backfired, but for a while, these people only contributed more hate and anger, and having people going up against each other, instead of the opposite. As you mentioned, the best in people, turned into the worst, for some, and where this trend of monitoring and blaming/shaming and naming others, is just a very poor and nasty way of bullying. The many hateful and nasty "comments" on social media, is sadly something which will continue on, but hopefully those who is behind many of that kind of behavior, will eventually not always get to hide so cowardly behind some anonymous username, as I think I have still not seen one comment section, in most news articles, that is not overcrowded, by these hateful comments, and the ones who comes up with all that raw seweage, day after day, they must really have a "great" life. An rather interesting, yet sad norwegian article or documentary, a few years ago, about many of those, hiding behind false usernames, only to spew out hatred and nasty stuff, turned out that most of the ones doing so, were not kids or teenagers, as many seemed to believe. In fact, a large number, were men and females, in the age group, between 50 and 70 years old, and some would spend hours after hours, a day, on just writing and coming up with all kind of ugly and evil stuff, and to know, that probably a lot of them, are either parents or grandparents, their kids must be so "proud" of how they spend their days doing. I guess it is kind of naive and unrealistic thought, but I always liked the: "If you do not have anything nice to say about someone, then just keep it to yourself."Sure, easier said than done, but these days, that is something which could be brought up, a whole lot more often. Speaking of the differences in sports and music/movie business, there has been a lot of heated discussions, over football and ski/winter sports (which surely, is the two dominating ones, in Norway), having been taken lighter or getting back much further, than other sporting events, such as ice hockey, handball and a few others. Just this weekend, the norwegian football league, premiered, and in the music and movie scene, there is still a lot of unanswered questions, about when or if certain big shows and music festivals, might happen, but I doubt it will suddenly go ahead as "normal", anytime soon. Tom Hanks was one of those celebrities along with his Wife and they come here to Australia with the Coronavirus and spread it around until he started having symptoms of the virus and got tested and if they had tested them like normal people when they come into Australia they would have discovered that much sooner but celebrities get treated differently. I imagine you would be missing going to the gym if you went regularly and that is good you got your bicycle and it is fun going for a ride on those but like you I prefer to run or walk and have you got a treadmill ‘cause we got one of those and I use it often except for when I am sick. I forgot to mention when you were saying about Weezer they just released another new album called ‘Van Weezer’ and I am going to get it today and I read it is a Hard Rock album similar to the style of Van Halen and Kiss which makes me interested in hearing what the new songs sound like and I’m still surprised they are releasing another album so soon after they just released ‘Okay Human’ earlier this year and I liked some of the songs on that. Nancy Wilson from Heart has just released a new solo album too and Paul Weller has a new album called 'Fat Pop' and have you heard of him? He was the lead singer of the Jam and the Style Council but I think some of his best work has been as a solo Artist with songs like 'Above the Clouds (below) and he has changed his style a lot over the years.
I listened to XTC’s ‘Skylarking’ album a couple of times and I enjoyed a number of the tracks on it like ‘That’s Really Super, Supergirl, ‘Summer’s Cauldron’, ‘Seasons Cycle’, ‘Big Day’ and ‘Mermaid Smiled’ and thank you for introducing me to that album. I had no idea they performed a ‘Supergirl’ song () and I am a longtime fan of Supergirl but the only other song I have heard with Supergirl in it is Killing Heidi’s ‘Superman/Supergirl’ which you can hear below and was one of their hit singles here on their debut album, ‘Reflector.’
Thanks for sharing that story about your uncle and his love for movies and movie and music collection and I think your Cousin is right about him wanting you to have them and I know I want my Nieces and Nephew to have a lot of my things when I die especially my Pokemon things which my Niece (Courtney) will be getting since she is a big Pokemon fan. By getting them you also have a little piece of your uncle in a way to remind you of the good memories you had with him and I would have loved to have got more of my Grandfather's things and photos of my Sister and I with my Grandfather and Grandmother but the chances of that ever happening are slim now since my Mother has them and I haven't spoken to her in over 20 years and have no plans to start again now but my Aunt was able to get my Sister and I some things. My Grandfather left a lot of money to my Sister and I when he passed away and we didn't get any of it 'cause our parents kept it from us but I don't care about the money anymore and care more about photos. We have got Netflix on Foxtel here and they done a special deal with our pay TV company (Foxtel) last year so we can watch it on there which made it easier for us to get. That's good some of your shops are opening again and I look forward to hearing from you again and your latest music and movie purchases and I will talk to you again on Friday. Yeah, I mean, I can live without the gym, not the end of the world but there are of course, certain things, which a walk/run or biking ride into the forest, just cannot replace, like when going to the gym. But as of right now, I would prefer to do my workout, outdoors, rather than indoors. I do not have a treadmill, but have several times, thought of getting one. But they are often very expensive, or just too big. I did purchase an exercise indoor cycle, which was of good use, for a while, until I got back in shape, to instead focus on running. However, I have from time to time, spend a few hours, here and there, on a treadmill at the gym, but for me, running outdoors, it is just so much more a feeling of "freedom", with constant change in weather, wind and going uphills and downwards, which is of course not something a treadmill could replace, anytime soon, but then again, the more intense workouts, could be done indoors, and it is nice, to just do a bit of exercise in one owns living room, watching some tv or a movie, listening to an album, but at the end of the day, I guess I do prefer to do my running outdoors. What you mentioned about Weezer and a few of the others artists, being very productive and creative, I guess that shows how some makes great use, of this rather special situation, and decides to make the best of it, with what the got, and for fans of the bands and artists, it must be a very interesting and nice time, having so much music to look forward to. I am glad to hear, that Skylarking turned out to be a pleasant ride, and I think the combination of Todd Rundgren's excellent production, and having two so different yet great songwriters as Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding, who both has this talent of coming up with quirky, sweet and charming pop-rock tunes, a great match. Not sure if I have brought it up earlier, but XTC did a nice tribute/parody act, under the name of The Dukes of Stratosphere, which is kind of like a Spinal Tap "time-out" project, that resulted into an EP and studio album, between 1985 and 1987, which surely were a nice way of looking back, at the more psychedelic 60s music era, and included some very funny and catchy songs:
I am sorry about how it ended up between you and your mother. I can however relate, a bit, when it comes to keeping up and holding onto old photos and images, which is something I treasure, but sadly, not everyone in my family feels the same, and it is kind of sad, that all these great photos and memories, are just locked down somewhere, and will most likely not be seen, for a long time. I know that my dad and his sister (my aunt) have divided lots of photos of their parents, but there is just so much missing, and not much interest in trying to bring them back, or make som copies, so that those who would like to enjoy them, might do so.
Still, I am glad, I have so much fond memories of my grandparents, as I know many, who sadly do not remember much of theirs, but I get very nostalgic, whenever I look back at all these photos from my childhood, and remembering the good times.
It is sad, when a relative or close family member dies, but also how money can affect in a negative way, or cause more damage to those left behind. Sadly, that is something which happens, far too often.
By the way, thanks for the songs you posted. I really enjoyed those, and have been meaning of checking into Paul and his music, but better late, than never.
Anyway, hope you have a nice week, and will be sure to catch up with you, later on.
Hi Stefancrosscoe
How are you going today and have you had a good week? Thank you for saying that and being a busy person myself I might take a few days to reply to your posts some weeks too but know I will get back to you when I have time and don’t plan on leaving again. I like this thing we have got going here with our two different posts too ‘cause it gives our posts a little variety and hope it is not confusing ‘cause we can go back to one if that is easier for you. We are going to the zoo tomorrow with my Sister and her family and I am excited about going but I am feeling a little nervous at the same time since it has been so long since we have been to a big place like this with a lot of people but it is time we get back to living our lives like normal people again ‘cause the pandemic has taken enough months away from us we can’t get back and now things have improved here and we haven’t had any recent clusters it is the safest it has been for ages and were you nervous about going out again?
I am glad you had a good time in the city apart from passing the demonstration you almost got stuck in and it is pretty rare when we have anything like that in our town and that is more the type of thing we would see in Sydney but occasionally we get protests here over things being built, torn down and sold to private and foreign companies by the state government. It is dumb when demonstrations get violent and protesters attack people and destroy private property and it is often the innocent people passing by minding their own business that get hurt and the very same thing happens when we have had brawls which is why it safe to stay away from them. At least the demonstration turned out to be a peaceful one and my Sister and I have protested in the past but none of the ones we were involved in turned violent at any point and violent protesters sadly give a bad reputation to all of the peaceful protesters that just want their voices to be heard and we have had some real deplorable ones in our country that have attacked animals at demonstrations to get the media to pay attention to them and I remember hearing about some that were attacking horses with weapons in Victoria.
When we had Easter here last year it was just after the Prime Minister announced the Shutdown and we had really strong restrictions at the time and basically weren’t allowed to go anywhere except for work, to get groceries or exercise for a limited amount of time or we would get fined or arrested and a lot of people and businesses got fined last year for not following the rules here and Victoria got the most but there was controversy over some police officers taking things too far and being violent and aggressive to people but in our state it was our State Politicians who were often on the news getting caught out not following the rules and they wanted everybody else to follow them but thought they were above doing it themselves and were your Politicians like that? There was Politician in our State Government that resigned ‘cause he was caught out traveling around the state and staying in hotels and took his Wife on a holiday when none of us were supposed to travel outside our areas but it was only ‘cause he got fined and the Premier was going to fine him he chose to hand in his resignation.
I think our Politicians have mostly done a good job of handling the Coronavirus here which is why we can live our lives closer to normal than many other countries at the moment but they also made a lot of mistakes and some of those resulted in the virus getting worse for a while and more people dying than there should have been and both parties were to blame. It is surprising how nasty some people will get on the internet when they have the anonymity factor on their side and there are cyberbullies that thrive on putting other people down out of bitterness, jealousy, hate or in some cases their own sick and twisted form of entertainment and with the main one that targeted Sydney Sweeney I think they enjoy getting attention from people that defended her and their name was ‘ICunts’, by the way which I am surprised didn’t get their account deleted and they continued it for as long as they could and tried to claim they were being attacked by the people standing up for her ‘cause they were black and when that didn’t work they started calling her a pedophile. Thankfully Sydney returned to social media yesterday with a happy video and photos of her and isn’t letting nasty people like that scare her off the internet.
That is interesting about that Norwegian article or documentary you read and sad people those ages would invest so much time into doing that when they should know better but it shows what pathetic lives they must lead if their entire existence revolves around that and one thing that stood out to me on the IMDB Board about some of the worst goblins was they were literally spending 24 hours a day on the site and looking at their profiles there were pages of posts with posts every hour and I had no idea how anybody could have the time to do that without needing to stop to work, eat and sleep but it must have been their life which was insane and makes you wonder where those weirdos moved to after the old IMDB Board closed down ‘cause I think we were very lucky to miss out on getting some of the worst ones I remember on this forum ‘cause it is a more friendlier and peaceful place without them but I imagine there are somewhere else spewing their hate. Thanks for letting me know about your sports and music festivals and when the sports do return it is possible they might be crowdless and only air on TV or only allow small crowds and I don’t know if you are a fan of wrestling but I find it funny in a way how WWE was able to continue through the pandemic while heaps of other sports had to stop when wrestling is one of the most physical sports there is.
I agree with you about nothing being able to replace walking, running and riding a bicycle inside and Occy and Sally always love it when we take them for walks and they go crazy when I get their leashes and put my shoes on ‘cause they know we are going out () and the only problem with taking them for walks is we have had some stray and escaped dogs in our town and when I see them I always get Occy and Sally to turn around and go in the opposite direction or walk down a different street ‘cause while they could be friendly there is always a chance they could be savage too and try to attack Occy and Sally and our Malshis are only small dogs and wouldn’t be able to defend themselves from being attacked by a big savage dog and we have had a number of dog attacks here over the years and they have attacked people passing them by and children playing in their front yards and we have to watch out for snakes too and we have seen a few of those on our walks too and do you any of those where you live ‘cause we do and we have brown belly ones which are some of the deadliest snakes around along with Blue Tongue Lizards and Frill Necked Lizards which are very creepy and I hate snakes and lizards and spending a lot of time on farms and orange orchards growing up didn’t make me used to them and made me fear them more.
It is nice having a lot of new albums coming out this year to buy and I found out Styx have a new one which I wasn’t expecting and Noel Gallagher is releasing a greatest hits album of his albums with The High Flying Birds which has some new songs on it too and then there is Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real and I have got all their other albums and Lukas is the son of Willie Nelson. ‘Skylarking’ was a pleasant ride, thank you and I agree with you and I am surprised XTC were one of those bands which didn’t make it bigger worldwide and in our country they were mostly known for their single ‘Senses Working Overtime’ kinda like A-HA and Soft Cell are mostly only known for one or two hits here despite having more success in their own countries. I think you did mention that and I noticed the name (The Dukes of Stratosphere) on the 2CD greatest hits album I got of them called 'Fossil Fuel: The XTC Singles Collection 1977-1992' and I just found the album on I Tunes and it has got that name but comes up under XTC too which is a good idea since there would be some people that wouldn't know that was them and Harem Scarem changed their name to Rubber for two albums 'cause they were very different than their other albums and were more Pop Rock than Melodic or Hard Rock but they have since re-released them as Harem Scarem albums now 'cause a lot of fans didn't know the Rubber albums existed.
Thanks for the songs too and I forgot to mention when I was saying about older Rock bands getting back together and having success I think one of the best comebacks has been Europe and Europe have completely reinvented themselves and it is hard to believe they are the same band that sang 'The Final Countdown' and 'Carrie' but they have had a lot of success doing it especially in their home country of Sweden where their newest albums have topped the charts and they have won Best Hard Rock/ Metal band awards. A lot of fans think their last six albums since they got back together are their best and I tend to agree and when they got back together in the 00s the lead singer said they could do what they were doing before or become a new band and they chose the latter and here are some of their songs below. I'll end this now so it is not too long but I hope you have a great weekend and will see you again next time.
