Surrounded by a great cast. she was wonderful in Enchanted April (1991). That part seemed to fit her age and style perfectly. One of the most riveting plays I have ever seen (both on stage and screen) was Peter Shaffer's Equus (1977) in which Plowright played Peter Firth's mother. It was a small part in a powerful screenplay but Burton's performance was totally captivating. (The funny thing is I can imagine this as actually happening under the right conditions--as laid down in the play.) For her worst cast role, I would refer you to her Portia in the TV presentation of The Merchant of Venice (1973). She wasn't THAT attractive and was 44 years old when she played Portia (a part that requires a MUCH younger women). In the same play her 66 year-old husband, Laurence Olivier, played Shylock.Luckily that play did not require them to be love interests of each other. As for the Chekhov plays, I generally prefer the BBC TV versions; I own this box collection: www.amazon.com/Chekhov-Collection-Platonov-Proposal-versions/dp/B0013D8M4O/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1509208941&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=BBC+Chekhov+plays
