It was one of my favorite shows from my childhood. I watched it 3 times the whole show, and I haven't seen single episode a few years. But I enjoyed every episode, and Steve is one of the funniest and memorable TV characters. I don't know why it has such low rating (6.6) on IMDb, I think it's better than Malcom in the Middle.

I think part of the low IMDb score is the fact it just went on waaay too long. Sitcoms usually have life of about 5-8 seasons. After that, they end up brain dead on life support.
I agree that Steve was a great character. It's a shame Jaleel White didn't end up with more of a career. He's so talented!

great show. a spinoff of perfect strangers. harriette worked with balki and larry. a die hard connection, both al powell and carl winslow are cops and both accidently shot a kid. eddie was great in the movie big shots when he was a kid. telma hopkins, the aunt, was great in the trancers movies. urkel-o's was a tasty cereal.

I loved that show, we would watch it every weekday when it came on. I LOVED Estelle, I always wanted a grandmother like that.

I haven't seen it since nick@night took it off the air. While I thought the show was funny when Urkle became the main star, I wish they toned down his inventions and his high time voice a little. You could tell it was going bad when he was transforming, time traveling and shrinking sounding like spongbob.

The Black History Month episode is about the strongest one they did, because they went THERE, if you saw it unedited, you know what I'm talking about, but when they moved it to ABC Family, they cut out that crucial scene with Laura's locker. And it doesn't matter how old I get, every time Estelle talks about being thrown out of an all-white library and going back every day to get a card, always makes me cry.

When Urkel became a woman and that "suave" Erkel, I tuned out.

The first 4 seasons or so were good-to-very good.
It was written well for that type of show at the time.
The humor wasn't all that propelled it, but.... GET BACK!

It's a bit mess, but I loved it anyway.

I liked the show from season 1 to 5 or 6. Then it started to become all about Steve Urkel.

When I was a kid Steve Urkel was my favorite part of the show. I actually at the time called it the Steve Urkel show. I havent seen it since they took reruns off of TBS back in the early 2000s. When watching reruns though I did notice how annoying Steve was. Ayes Stefon Urquelle was a definite jump the shark moment. Jaleel White just wanted to get out of those tight ass pants.

And it doesn't matter how old I get, every time Estelle talks about being thrown out of an all-white library and going back every day to get a card, always makes me cry. OMG, I remember watching that episode live when it originally aired! How in the world did they manage to slip it by the censors? I believe that was the first time I had seen swearing on television. That one was definitely a shocker. I do agree that the earlier seasons were the best. When Jaleel White became the main star of the show, that's when it started to go on a downward slope. Though, I did enjoy it from start to finish. The last episode still stands out in my mind the most. Anybody here remember the actress Jaimee Foxworth? She played the character of Judy Winslow from 1989 - 1993. I was surprised to learn that she had given up acting to become a porn star. What a shame about Jaleel. He's mostly relegated to guest spots on T.V. shows nowadays. He was recently in an episode of Bones, and only had an appearance in the cold opening.

They didn't slip it by the censors. No doubt that was approved. Shows could often get away with more if they were trying to tell some type of message.
