We all knew Han was going at some point. We all know Leia will go at some point.
But Luke is different. He is on a whole different level and playing field. He is the hero of the most beloved trilogy of all time. He is considered to be one of the most powerful Jedi's of all time. He is seemingly the key to this next trilogy as well.
So how would you react if Luke is killed off?
It seems like the logical end to his journey, yet I really don't want them to do it. I guess it could depend on the way they do it as well.

Luke will die before the end of the trilogy and I'm just fine with it. He'll return as a force ghost starting in episode X and that will be the perfect amount of Luke Skywalker going forward.

I see him sticking around at least through the remainder of the trilogy. Now that Carrie is gone and Han was killed off, I don't see Luke going too.

If it's done for shock value, I'd probably hate it.

Snoke will absorb his essence and eat his soul like Shang Tsung.
Luke Skywalker is a pathetic failure and totally peripheral, unimportant character in The Story of Rey.

I'd like one original trilogy character to be left standing honestly.

I'd like one original trilogy character to be left standing honestly. Luke, Chewbacca, R2, C3PO...Lando maybe? There's lots we need to keep.

If the new characters are still unlikeable and they kill off/retire all OG characters, than I guess I won't be seeing these films in theaters.
They should have to brought the EU cast into the films.

So how would you react if Luke is killed off? it really depends on HOW Luke is portrayed and written. If this ST Luke is a believable and organic progression of the character we know from the OT, and an interesting character on his own, it would be kind of sad to see him go (though we know he will live on as ghost).
But: If it's just Hamill portraying old - badly written - fanfic Luke serving as a mere plot device to make the Marey Sue character shine and awesome (as with Leia in the Leia-hugged-first scene) give him the coup de grace already.
Luke et al have not deserved that they destroy all for which they have fought and suffered

If TFA is leading by example, your latter prediction is likely to be the most true. I really don't see why we have any reason to believe otherwise at this point...

I'd like one original trilogy character to be left standing honestly. Knowing Disney, they'll probably do it just to keep us coming back for more.

I just want him to do something -anything- interesting. I fear he will just be the cliched mentor and then die once that role is served.

I love Yoda, but Luke is different. He should be along for the adventure and he should have a big part in the story.

One less reason to watch ep.9? Honestly, I'm more excited for BLACK PANTHER and JUSTICE LEAGUE than I am for STAR WARS. Killing of Han took about 80% of my motivation for watching the movies. Han, Chewie & the Falcon, and lightsaber battles were my reasons for enjoying the original trilogy, the prequels I mostly just like Qui-gon so hardly watched CLONE WARS and watched the 3rd with a friend one time at her house, and while I like Maz Kanata and Poe Dameron, they don't make up for losing Han.
