Always wondered why most of the best writer-directors in BW are never able to top their first couple of films so it's interesting to listen to what Tigmanshu has to say...

Interesting. He claims that the big stars (Ranbir, Saif) never give the directors problems and takes the blame on his own shoulders. Then talks about guys like him, Anurag, Imtiaz Ali, Sriram Raghavan, etc. being outsiders as opposed to part of 'filmi families', and asserts that they've lost the experience of making 'filmi' films over the years.

Tbh he's suggesting that after working in the industry for a 20 odd years, even guys like him who are outsiders start making "filmi films" as opposed to the kind of movies they were making while starting out. About Bullet Raja, he claims that when he tried to make a film set in UP (after being away from Allahabad for many years), he ended up making a "filmi" film ("filmi picture ban gayee").
