The old schism of Gnostic against what became the Catholic church is still here, just not spoken of.
There was a good reason that the Gnostic notion that we operate in Satan's realm was ditched. Because if such an idea is true, then it can't be organized in Satan's realm. He attacked the notion by making the original Gnostic spokesmen either be snake oil sleaze bags out for power, or to appear that way if they weren't.
So, Gnostic people knew they had to be in the background.
Today, we have a plethora of traditionalists who believe God does evil for good reasons. Yet, there are still those of us who believe he operates as a spy in a world of evil in which Satan is prince. Even Jesus operated as such.
I adhere to the words of Jesus, and to the Christian church, but God does not choose our leaders. They are chosen in the flesh. I think Obama was a good one, but many think he wasn't. Some think Trump is. I don't. Point is, none of them are appointed by God. People living in flesh under the false testimonies of Satan, they choose leaders.
Same for evil consequences. God doesn't give people Cancer to teach lessons or make others think. Satan does all this. God doesn't give people Diabetes. God doesn't have sharks bite people. God doesn't have lice go in the hair of people. Not the good God.
Anyone praising such a God is praising Satan, and blaspheming the holy ghost. I wouldn't want to do that.

You are right, God doesn't give people cancer or diabetes or Parkinsons or anything of the sort. Paul Ellis is one of those who says as much. escapetoreality.org/2013/06/11/hebrews-12v6-does-god-scourge/and escapetoreality.org/2016/07/27/isaiah-45v7-does-the-lord-create-evil/
