It's OK to want to mix drama and horror as long as the tone is even. PERSONAL SHOPPER is a drama that has occasional moments of horror. They feel out of place, because they were filmed in such a different way from the rest. However, each scene was well-filmed individually, since the atmosphere created for each moment is the one that Olivier Assayas wanted. Therefore, it's hard to say if his directing is good. It's not hard to say if Kristen Stewart's performance is good (it is). Mysterious texts (as well as calls and letters) can intrigue viewers, but not keep us hooked the whole time. Therefore, you have add more elements to the mystery. Even if the plot of this movie didn't almost completely rely on the texts, it would still be unoriginal. 4/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).
