novastar6 : About the sidewalk libraries.... you can make one yourself. There's a guy down the street from my mom who has put a cooler (no top) on a milk crate and just stuffs books into it. It's been there for almost a year and the turnover is pretty amazing. I think it's funny, but it works. Here's a picture of it: Ok, don't know how to do it but google 393 Sammon Avenue toronto. It's the house on the corner.

There are also 2 "sidewalk libraries," within a few blocks. I had never heard of this, until recently. It's, apparently, a world-wide practice. People erect what look like large mailboxes, with glass doors, in front of their homes. Anyone can see what books have been placed in the "library," and take looks interesting. Folks are encouraged to leave books that they've finished. It's amazing how fast the turnover is. I've found a few, and left many. I've heard about those, I wish they had one here, but I'm sure some idiot would just steal them all or dismantle it. Where I live we have one of those old red phone boxes converted into a free library and recently some idiots (I suspect it was some silly kids) tried to set fire to it. Thankfully someone noticed in time and there was no damage done.
