I've mentioned this before: a friend of my sister was a regular extra in a long-running Australian television soap opera, though I'm not sure which one. I'm not joking. I should ask to know which soap it was. I believe she was an extra for several years.

I have a short and unexciting list. I met these people many years after their fame was acquired and they're all dead now.
Barry Goldwater - U.S. Senator and 1964 presidential candidate.
Ted Williams - Hall of Fame baseball player.
Harold Wilson - former British Prime Minister 1964-1970 and 1974-1976. His name is mentioned in the Beatles' song 'Taxman'.
Harper Lee - author of To Kill A Mockingbird.

I've met quite a few celebrities at comics/sci-fi conventions over the years. I also met a few celebrities that were on USO tours when I was in the service.

...many sports figures because I used to regularly attend sports collectible shows. 2 other highlights include my meeting and chatting with Buffalo Bob Smith of Howdy Doody fame and getting his auto on a book about the show. Also, I ran into Clint Eastwood at LAX airport and got his auto on an index card which I matted and framed with a photo of him from "Hang 'em High"

Ray Park- Star Wars, X-Men Warwick Davis- Star Wars, Willlow Homer H. Hickam Jr.- Writer & subject of October Sky/Rocket Boys Kathryn Erbe- Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Mighty Ducks 2
Park & Davis I met an event for STAR WARS, and everyone had rushed over to talk to one of the voice actors for REBELS, so I went over to the booths no one seemed interested in. I love X-MEN and WILLOW, so I never mentioned STAR WARS while talking to either of them. Erbe was at the same store I was, when I was traveling, and she had her child with her so I didn't go bother her or anything but she did smile and nod since I'm pretty sure she realized my friend and I recognized her. Hickham, I nearly knocked down stairs by accident, and he was so polite and nice about it (crowded event, someone knocked into me, I fell into Hickham, etc.)and then later it was announced to the crowd that the author of Rocket boys/October Sky was there and they shone the spotlight- so I nearly had a heart attack.

I ran into Adam Sandler's rival wedding singer from The Wedding Singer at a coffee shop once.
