And for the price tag of $52B. I think I have that much laying around, maybe I'll check underneath the couch cushions.

If you're ashamed of comics. ...? I dunno what your stance is, but Marvel Studios basically started an era wherein writers and directors aren't afraid to embrace the over-the-top non-grounded approach to CBMs whereas before the genre was dominated by people who thought that being "grounded" was the only way to go (Nolan, Singer).

This isn't really about CBMs for me. As far as what you said about "grounded" and "over the top", there needs to be a bit of both, not just one over the other. But like I said, it's not the CBMs that really worry me at all; my concerns lie in non-franchise films. Look at this award season, 21st Century Fox dominated with films like 'The Shape of Water', 'Three Billboards', 'The Post', among many others. I'm worried we're going to see a lot less of these original movies and a lot more franchise movies which there is no lack of. If anything, this deal will just make it much harder for directors to be able to make movies that don't fit the CBM mold. I understand if you're all about CBMs, and the MCU that this is a wet dream for you guys. And that's cool. Just for me personally I'm worried where this puts movies in general as it's not all about CBMs for me personally.

The film goes in cycles, first favoring standalones over franchise film, and then vice versa. Its been going through periods of huge decade-sweeping film series and then back to simpler times from pretty much the beginning to now. Right now, the cinematic atmosphere veers towards franchising, but it will cycle back around to preferring standalones again.

MCU X-Men won't forget that, and will treat any other MCU characters who are in it with respect as opposed to the X-Men being the center of the Universe.

Marvel comics never had any difficulty running the X-Men, Captain America, Ironman and many many more all at once, and neither will Marvel Studios. And its still going to be years before the MCU X-Men actually start, because they still have a full slate of movies set to be made.
