Disney is honestly bordering on becoming a full-fledged monopoly. They own Star Wars, Marvel, Indiana Jones, Pixar, Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean, and soon maybe the X-Men and Apes as well? That's scary to me.
I mean, seriously, is DC next? Is that buyout inevitable?

Disney is honestly bordering on becoming a full-fledged monopoly. They own Star Wars, Marvel, Indiana Jones, Pixar, Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean, and soon maybe the X-Men and Apes as well? That's scary to me. I mean, seriously, is DC next? Is that buyout inevitable? It has been a monopoly for a while now. Now it is a super-monopoly. Also proves without a doubt that when Eisner said in the 90s that he wanted Disney to be entertainer for the globe he wasn't kidding. |

And there's nothing wrong with setting a new standard (which is the same as "formulaic" when you get down to it) and there's nothing wrong with enjoying it. Agree on all OP point, except that I think (hope) it will not happen for regulatory and commercial reasons. I hear the negotiations have ended, if true that would a good sign - in M&A transactions, you never leave the negotiation table.
There is more at stake here than a few X-rated fox men.
