I always hear this but it is BS. You bet they’re competing.
It’s easy for us adults to forget but kids, particularly ones not born with a silver spoon in their mouth, most of them don’t get to watch every film that is released at the cinema. Even if money isn’t an issue, when you’re young someone has to go with you and some family members don’t want to go to every movie you want to see. So you or your family prioritise some films over others. This is where the competition often comes in.
And then comics are something else again. No one, even most adults, have the money and time to read every comic that is released. And once someone chooses a Marvel or DC comic it is going to contain characters in other books by that publisher. Every comic has advertisements of other books of their brand in there.

There is no competition. DC movies are vastly superior to McMarvel.

There is no competition. DC movies are vastly superior to McMarvel. Depends how ashamed you are of comics.

This post doesn't prove that Marvel is competing with DC. It doesn't prove anything actually. All you've done is suggest that discovering a character from either publisher could lead to you developing an affinity for other characters within that shared universe.

The MCU films stand very well on their own as movies. Its DC that needs to be propped by up the comics.

And what of the point about children prioritising which film they watch? The films are in competition with each other, as are the comics.

By that rationale, they're also competing with Dreamworks, Amblin, Fox, and every other movie studio out there.

This argument ignores that Kevin Feige has gone on record stating that he wants DC to do well.

But their main competitor is each other, particularly in the comic book realm.

Nah. Especially since it's very rare any of their movies premiere even within the same month. Thor and JL is the first time, if I'm not mistaken.
If it's all about the money, then every product is competing with every product.

They like what they like. My nephew likes Thor, Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, and Hulk and doesn't care much about their publishers... at least not yet. He's too young to follow the shared universe storylines that the movies portray and, even if he could understand them; I don't think they would affect his choices much. He must see all movies with the characters mentioned above, and that is how his parents prioritize what they will spend money on in the theaters.

Depends how ashamed you are of comics. Or maybe he doesn't really care about the comics and he's just judging the movies....as movies. Give me a break. If he were doing that, or anyone for that matter, then MCU would win easily. Opinions be damned, there is NO WAY any reasonable person can say that the DCEU is better than the MCU right now. Only haters, DECEU fan boys, and trolls think this. Suicide Squad sucked. Batman vs. Superman sucked. Man of Steel was average. Wonder Woman was good, but heavily overrated. People talk like it is the best film of the year, which is a joke. The MCU has demolished the DCEU so far critically and financially. There is NO competition.
