Actor John Hillerman passed away yesterday at the age of 84. He had been in declining health for the past few years.
He is best remembered as Higgins, the stoic, upper-crust Britishman who was the major domo of the estate of the never-seen author Robin McMasters on MAGNUM P. I. He was my favorite character on that show; he really seemed British, although he was from Texas! After the show ended, he appeared in a few other series before retiring in 1999 and moving back to Houston.
May he RIP

R.I.P. indeed, snsurone. I knew him best from the short-lived Ellery Queen TV show, in which he played stuck-up radio sleuth Simon Brimmer (who always delivers an erroneous solution before Ellery reveals the correct one). He was very good in that, and I'm sorry to hear about his passing.

I agree. Another loss of a great actor and fellow Texan. RIP.

Appears in some of my favourites - Chinatown, Paper Moon, The Last Picture Show - and always performed excellently.

I have fond memories of Magnum and Higgins sparing with each other. Rest in peace Mr. Hillerman.
