I don't care about the time tables of the universe in the MCU because it's fiction and maybe it is 14 million years old, but just in case people aren't aware, our actual universe is 14 billion years old. I just find things like sort of amusing because 14 million years is nothing to the history of the universe. That's equivalent to looking at one frame in a roll of film to the next. It's a little different, but not much.
I remember back in TDW when Selvig was saying the universe rotates on a 5000 year cycle. Maybe the MCU universe does, but in our universe, that's not even close. It takes over 200 thousand years to go around just our galaxy, nevermind the entire universe. 5000 years is virtually nothing.
Let's take something like evolution. Humans have been around for roughly 150 thousand years, civilization just 5 thousand. Australopithecus was one of the first species of human ancestors to deviate from the line of other primates, and that was over 4.5 million years ago just to get back to the common ancestor of all primates. It takes hundreds of millions to get back to the emergence of mammals from marsupials and hundreds more to get marsupials from reptiles, and hundreds more to get reptiles from amphibians, and hundreds more to get amphibians from fish, and fish from smaller organisms, and those from single cell organisms, etc etc.
The point is 14 million is just a tick of the clock.

What does this have to do with the MCU? And 14billion is on current evidence and could change if more is known about dark matter/energy.

Of course it's on current evidence. What else is there? I mean there's no evidence it will change. Dark matter was actually discovered by balancing the equation of energy and matter required to account for the rate of universal expansion, but doesn't impact the age calculations.

Even little kids know dinosaurs stamp the world out to at least 65 million years.

Also little kids unlike arf arf know the universe is is 13.79 Billion years old. What's a few hundred million years difference, eh?
But if MCU implies 14 Million MCU sheeple will readily follow and bully everybody who does not believe the squishy raccoon turd they serve as mind food.

Maybe I missed what was implied, but I thought Grandmaster said he was about 14 million years old, and somewhere in there he implied they'd been around since near the beginning or something. Maybe not, I could be completely wrong on that one. Guess I'll just have to watch it again to find out!!

Edit- oh right, the Grandmaster quote. Yeah good point Arch.

But the Mooch said on television that the Earth itself was just 5,500 years old?!? You saying he's lying or just stupid?

Congrats Marvel.
You are doing so well that Marvel haters have to dredge around for things like this to complain about.

Congrats Marvel. You are doing so well that Marvel haters have to dredge around for things like this to complain about. I'm actually not a marvel hater, I'm probably it's biggest proponent. In fact, I think I might be wrong about what was said in the film, but either way the MCU might actually be 14 million years old, I was just point out that the actual universe isn't.

I have to admit I don't even know the source of your complaint. Grandmaster listing his age as 14 million years old maybe? There are already people who don't believe the universe is very old so I doubt anything in a Marvel movie is going to have any effect on things.

Close but off by a few hundred million years. It's actually 13.799 ±0.021 billion years old.

It takes over 200 thousand years to go around just our galaxy, nevermind the entire universe. 5000 years is virtually nothing. Both are nonsensical. One cosmic year is not 200 thousands years, but, it takes our sun approximately 225-250 million years to complete one orbit around the MiWa galaxy’s center. Our sun and solar system move at about about 500,000 miles an hour (800,000 km/hr ).

I had just thought he indicated the universe was 14 million years old, and I'm a big science geek, so I just wanted to offer that. I think you are right however, he was just referring to his own age.
And for what it's worth the people who don't believe the universe is that old are at odds with all available evidence.

Agreed. But I don't stress over it too much. I feel like it's hard to exist and if some can find a kind of peace in believing certain things about the universe I don't mind. The idea of dying and blinking out of existence forever is probably a very disturbing thought to some people. My mom finds great comfort in her bible and that makes me happy for her.

It's ok to find peace, but when you're denying reality to do it, that's just delusional. I would say it's more disturbing for a human being to willing trick themselves to such a degree. The universe is that old, whether it conforms to biblical fairy tales or not.

I guess that's where we differ. I don't have a problem with people deluding themselves if it makes them happy. More happy people is a good thing to me. Don't change what I believe. I can still logically come to the conclusion that religion is an invention to deal with our intelligence. (we are the only species which seems to be aware that we are going to die) So I don't see who it would disturb. It certainly doesn't disturb me. It's absolutely true that the universe is as old as it is no matter what anyone believes. ...So...what's the harm?
