That would increase its lead over Spider-man Homecoming. It'll need it though because Spider-man had good legs at the end there.
Thor will have a bit more competition though.

If it winds up with the 61, it should be well over 600 by the end of the weekend. That would leave it idk, like 180 from 800? Should make that even with the competition right?

If it makes $17 mill on Friday it will have grossed as much as the first movie in 8 days.
No. Sucky math. $27 mill short.
Anyway it made $18.5 mill which brings it to $173.4 So 9 days to gross as much as the first movie.
If it hits the predicted $54.1 mill this weekend it will be at $209 mill or more than TDW's total domestic gross

I sometimes wonder how much bigger those earlier films would have been if the Brand was already this strong.

I amended my comments. I was off, but it will likely pass both prior movies by Sunday. This is great for the character. They are stuck on Hulk. He cannot have his own movie because of the Universal deal. He can only share a movie-Marvel Team Up. Thor works. I can't see him pairing up with Cap. Stark would work with Banner, but he doesn't really interact with the green guy.

If they play out a story arc across other movies, I think that's almost better than him getting a stand alone. It's different and interesting.
