Okay, so there is no actual movie with the title "Bikini Beach Party" but there is a SNL skit I just found online that lovingly mocks those 60's beach party/surf movies. I love those movies, I know they're not the epicenter of cinematic brilliance or anything, but they entertain me on some level. I wasn't even alive in the 60's so we can't blame nostalgia. Here's the clip:

Here's a touch of the real Beach Blanket Bingo 1965:
The clips emphasizes old silent Star Buster Keaton, it is what it is:

They've never stopped making beach movies since. There's some fun beach pictures from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s & 2000s. Beach horrors too.

Hanks spoofed the genre quite well in That Thing You Do.

I have 'Psycho Beach Party' on dvd. Amy Adams is in it! I've not seen 'Back To The Beach' - thanks for the recommendation. Beach favourites ... 'Malibu Beach' (1978) 'Blood Beach' (1980) 'The Beach Girls' (1982) 'Hardbodies' (1984) 'Hardbodies 2' (1986) 'Beach Balls' (1988) 'Beach Babes From Beyond' (1993) 'Buford's Beach Bunnies' (1993) 'Beach Babes 2 : Cave Girl Island' (1998) 'Malibu Spring Break' (2003) 'Monster From Bikini Beach' (2008) 'Monstro!' (2010)

That was awesome claudius thanks for sharing, I'd never seen that one before. " Hi! I'm Annette, this is my boyfriend Frankie, and these are my breasts!" Best Casting: Belushi as "Erik Von Zipper." Interesting that "Princess Leia" chose to wear a gold bikini, four years before she actually would wear one in Return of the Jedi!

From Beach Blanket Bingo. Frankie & Annette singing "I Think, You Think" in front of the back projection screen. Oddly enough, so much of the beach stuff got filmed indoors!

Love all the original beach party movies (made by American International Pictures btw). No matter how bad they were, they were still entertaining.

Love all the original beach party movies (made by American International Pictures btw). No matter how bad they were, they were still entertaining. They were meant to be stupid fun, and that's just what they are. No one at the time thought they were making cinematic history of any importance, but they were, in a way. People like us who continue to enjoy them keep them alive. One of my favorites was Catalina Caper, with Tommy Kirk. There's not much plot to speak of, I just loved seeing Catalina in the 60's, compared to when I was there in the 90's. It's been shown on TCM two years in a row now, both times at the beginning of summer. I had to watch it on YouTube, the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episode with crazy commentary!

Some of the pioneers of the bikini beach revival of the 1990s, notably David DeCoteau and Fred Olen Ray, had worked with producer Roger Corman of American International Pictures.

There are still a few obscure/hard-to-find beach movies from the 60's I haven't been able to see, mostly copycats of the Frankie/Annette series: Beach Ball (1965) Surf Party (1964) A Swingin' Summer (1965) Love In A Goldfish Bowl (1961) Palm Springs Weekend (1963) Wild On The Beach (1965) The Girls On the Beach (1965) C'mon, Let's Live A Little (1967) Get Yourself A College Girl a.k.a. The Swinging Set (1964) Daytona Beach Weekend (1965) The Beach Girls and the Monster (1965) One Way Wahine (1965) When the Boys Meet the Girls (1965) Don't Make Waves (1967) The Lively Set (1964) For Those Who Think Young (1964) Then there's these two oddball offshoots with some of the usual beach movie cast: Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine (1965) Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs (1966) And then some more oddball offshoots, some came before but still accepted as similar enough: Operation Bikini (1963) Thunder Alley (1967) Fireball 500 (1966) Sergeant Dead Head (1965) Out of Sight (1966) Elvis even did a few beach party type movies I've yet to see: Girl Happy (1965) Clambake (1967) With this being winter, I would like to explore the spinoff winter movies inspired by the surf/beach movies: Winter A-Go-Go (1965) Ski Party (1965) Ski Fever (1966) Wild Wild Winter (1966) Skidoo (1968) I had no idea the genre had so much left to offer.
