My vote is definitely for Supergirl. Supergirl is the second biggest selling female superhero of all time and the TV show doesn't even remotely resemble most of the Supergirl comic books with Kara and Linda. Supergirl was also the leader of the second 'Justice League' lineup with Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Animal Man, Stargirl, Equinox and Adam Strange and has appeared in more 'Justice League' comic books than any other member outside of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern and the Flash. I would go with Linda Danvers 'cause it about time we get an awesome badass Supergirl and it would be something completely different than we have seen on screen before. Not to mention, the Linda Danvers/Supergirl by Peter David is still the biggest selling and longest running Supergirl series of all time and for a good reason 'cause Linda Danvers was awesome!! Black Canary has been rumoured to debut in the upcoming 'Batgirl' movie to set up a future 'Birds of Prey' movie and Zatanna is set to be in 'Justice League Dark' along with Swamp Thing and Constantine. Looking forward to seeing who they add next to the DCEU.
Which DC Heroes Justice League's Cast Wants To Join For A Sequel
The DC Extended Universe is an interesting place. Despite still being very much in its infancy, the shared universe is set to have a major event when Justice League arrives in theaters in a week or so. Zack Snyder's highly anticipated blockbuster will unite the DC trinity with newcomers Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg in an adventure to stop Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons. While DC fans are eager to see the motley crew of heroes team up, there are tons of other heroes that have been League members in the comics. And the Justice League cast has a few ideas as to who should join the team in a possible sequel.
Specifically, the Justice League cast would like to see at least one more female character join in the future. When asked who should join the team by MTV, the cast gave a variety of DC heroines. Ben Affleck was quick to offer up Black Canary, as he felt the need for more female heroes in The League. Henry Cavill championed the inclusion of Supergirl, which he thinks would allow some growth for his character. Finally, Ray Fisher thought that the magician Zatanna would be an excellent addition, and her powers could create a ton of new possibilities for the universe.
Given the call for more female leading character in major franchises, the Justice League really would benefit from having more than just Wonder Woman on the roster. While Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman was a groundbreaker for the genre, the rest of The League is chock full of male heroes. And with The Marvel Cinematic Universe bringing in more badass females like The Wasp and Captain Marvel, DC will no doubt want to keep up with its competitor in terms of representation and inclusivity.
Black Canary, Supergirl, and Zatanna
That being said, DC has had some strong female characters with Viola Davis' Amanda Waller and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad. And while they don't have release dates set, Joss Whedon's Batgirl movie and the Gotham City Sirens film should allow more DC women to join the shared universe. Of course, we'll see how all of these announced films continue developing after the box office and critical reception of Justice League.
Given the years of hype, the pressure is on for Justice League to deliver when it hits theaters. Wonder Woman has been the DCEU's only critical success, and the new film will be introducing a handful of characters who should be receiving their own solo films, starting with James Wan's Aquaman.
Justice League arrives in theaters on November 17th, and you can pre-order tickets here. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.
