Today would have been Kim Hunter's 95th birthday. She was an Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actress as the infamous "STELLLLLAAAA" in A Streetcar Named Desire, a role she also played on stage with Marlon Brando. But her most famous role may have been as "Zira" in three of the Planet of the Apes movies. She had a healthy career in television later in life, gaining some newer fans in her many guest spots on several series. Of her films I've seen: A Streetcar Named Desire Planet of the Apes (1968) Beneath the Planet of the Apes Escape From the Planet of the Apes The Kindred Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil A Price Above Rubies

Only saw her in the 'Planet of the Apes' movies. It's cool she seems to have taken the makeup procedure in stride.

Kim Hunter's one of my favourite actresses. I'm always happy when she appears on screen. I've enjoyed performances she gave in films from the 1940s through to the 1990s. Always saw her as a great character actress. She made a number of fantasy, science-fiction & horror films over the years which makes me like her all the more.
I love that quote; it fits movies like 'The Seventh Victim' and 'Planet Of The Apes' beautifully.

Appearing in fantasy, sci-fi and horror could not have hurt her fanbase any, that's exactly why I'm a fan. These are the films younger audiences tend to seek out the most.

Definitely; with the current Marvel - DC superhero boom and runaway success of tv's 'Game Of Thrones', fantasy couldn't be trending any higher.

Was in one of the best episodes of Columbo - with Don Ameche. Was this the only Columbo with 2 oscar winners....and neither was killer or victim?
