Yeah, it never really had a chance. It's a great movie, but not even close to best picture worthy.

MCU never launched a campaign for Best Picture and dropped the ball with a later product in the same year, which is what WB has apparently done. Sorry Prez!

Because they know their movies aren't good enough. Sorry jjd! Because they're not pretentious enough to think that just because they've made a hit movie they must campaign for Best Picture. Sorry, Mr. President but WW was just not that good!

Sorry, Mr. President but WW was just not that good! I don't care about WW, I didn't even see it. I just know MCU has never even come close to winning an Oscar!

Unlikely.
Meanwhile MCU is still 0 for 17 and DCEU is 1 of 4.
Sorry MCU fans! Thanks for the jealous trolling, Dredd.

So did David Lynch, you telling me he's a bad filmmaker? Hell, Stanley Kubrick only ever won one Oscar and that was for Visual Effects. Anyways, MCU has had it harder because they were the ones that had to build up the respectability of non-grounded CBMs in the publics' eye for the last 9 years. It is funny how DC fans keep clinging to their makeup award though. It's like when Halle Berry accepted her Razzie for Catwoman while clinging to her Oscar (the one she got for political reasons) for dear life. Anyways, if the MCU doesn't win anything this year it'll be because of that backlash from how the LA Time situation.

It is funny how MCU fans suffer from Oscar jealousy though. But it may be that unlike Halle Berry, MCU when finally accepting Razzies for one of their Raccon Turds will never be able to cling to an Oscar for dear life. So sad.

So did Michael Bay, Uwe Boll and Ed Wood, you telling me they are bad filmmakers? How many razzies have those guys been nominated for, which the MCU has 0 of? We don't, we just think it's funny how you're clinging to that Makeup award. You don't see George Miller gushing over the technical awards Fury Road won now do you? He has integrity. Likewise, we won't gush over anything when Guardians 2 or Ragnarok win any technical awards. The MCU will never win a Razzie. It'll never even be nominated...unlike DC.

Just like David Lynch never won anything, despite all evidence saying he should. Or how Kubrick never won anything but an FX Award. Glad you hold the MCU up to their standards. Although if they don't win it'll be because of the backlash against Disney for the LA Times Critics thing.

Could it not be that MCU is just mediocre movies that follow an uninspired boiler plate formula and are the artistic equivalent of tasty, but fatty and forettable junk food for the dumb masses? That's the common sense assumtion with most people at least.

more artificial downers for Disney, A perfect valid artificial block in this case. No, they just kicked DC's feet out from under them and redefined how CBMs have been done since 2008. As for their "formula", it's no different from anything any other successful movie series has done. Their only "formula" is success. And they never win Razzies, which is more than DC can say.

...Not like it had a big chance of being nominated for anything other than technical categories by the Academy Awards. Sorry DC-Fan! After the hyperbole on release it doesn't seem many sites are predicting Wonder Woman will even get nominated for BP. As for Patty Jenkins, if the Academy were looking to make a statement with a best director nomination for a woman, well two films predicted for nomination are also directed by women (Mudbound and Ladybird), plus Kathryn Bigelow and Sophia Coppolla have also been mentioned.

Yeah, it never really had a chance. It's a great movie, but not even close to best picture worthy. It may be a bit risky to post this on the DC board, but I agree. I think it's a great movie (would rate it an 8/10), but I'd be angry if it will get a best picture nom instead of a movie like Blade Runner 2049. The competition this year is just too high for Wonder Woman (or Guardians 2, Spider-Man & Thor: Ragnarok) to get nominated.

Marvel knows what kind of movies they want to make, and no, they're not at all Oscar-worthy, which is fine, because unlike DC, they don't need awards to validate themselves. 17 movies and nearly 10years later, they're still going strong. When you guys continue to return and cling to your makeup Oscar and Ledger's Oscar to try and make a statement against the MCU, it shows you have no argument for the DCEU, which just took another blow with Justice League.

MCU and it's fans strongly remind me of Aesop's (he's not a superhero) fable about the fox and the Grapes; it's not a story MCU would tell, nor MCU fans would understand. However, the story concerns a fox that tries to eat grapes from a vine but cannot reach them. Rather than admit defeat, he states they are undesirable.
Btw the grapes and vines are now called Fox Grapes (Vitis labrusca) . I imagine in a few decades the Oscars might be called MCU Grapes...
