When superheroes first came about, Superman was king. The goody-two-shoes boyscout who used powers for good golden boy stereotype was where it was at. Then the day came when that was seen as boring, and what was now "cool" was being a rebellious, vigilante anti-hero. Guys like Wolverine and Raphael (TMNT) started to become more popular. Rising above all of them was Batman - the ultimate strong, silent, brooding, cool looking dude with a dark past stereotype. But nowadays it seems the allure for that brooding, aloof anti-hero is dropping. Now people want characters they can relate to. Characters that act more like normal people. That's why the recent movie depictions of Tony Stark, Captain America and Wonder Woman went over so well with the public. They acted and behaved in a way regular people can somewhat relate to.
Batman, on the other hand, is starting to be boring and unrelateable. At least that's what I'm noticing from the general public. People don't seem to relate to Affleck's Batman, and thus are starting to find him boring. Even in the TDK trilogy, Nolan had to strip Batman down to make him relateable and interesting again.
As it stands right now, WB and DC should make the smart decision of making Wonder Woman the flagship character and have her lead the Justice League instead of focusing it around Batman. Give Superman his personality back instead of making him mope around.

While I agree that it does look as though Zack the hack and WB have ruined Batman and people don't care anymore, WTF are you on, dude? Regular people relate to a World War 2 soldier who has been encased in ice for like 70 years, a billionaire genius and an immortal Amazonian princess???!!!!!

Well, as an A-level nemesis of Bats, I have to agree that he has become a bit stodgy. I've tried to bring a little death into his life but, he just keeps saying, "I'm Batman," and then two pages later, I lose the fight. This is why I've moved on and decided to antagonize Mr. Unknown instead.

That's a bit of a reach considering that TDK trilogy was huge and is still revered. If anything people are simply tired of recasts and reboots. How many different Batmans and SpiderMans do we need? !!!!!!12

It's not the background of the character that people have trouble relating to, it's the personality of the character. WW2 soldier, billionnaire playboy, amazon princess... all of them still display more or less realistic personalities. They laugh, cry, get pissed off, fall in love, get hurt, etc. Whereas the dark and forever brooding Batman personality just isn't relatable.

Cap is the only one who behaves in any way remotely like a "normal person." Although I would still argue that the main reason for his rise in popularity is the quality of his last 2 movies and not his "relatable personality."

He's popular with a lot of the Filipino girls my daughter went to school with as well. Cap & Supes are extremely similar. Seen as boy scouts. Strong moral compass. Marvel went with it. DC chucked it. Look who works
