BBC Music Magazine did a poll to determine the 20 greatest operas - #1 was The Marriage of Figaro I want to go at opera longevity from a different angle. A huge percentage of the operatic repertoire (and all other forms of music) comes from the 19th century. Throughout the present century, all of these works from the 1800s will be celebrating their 200th anniversary. Question: What operatic works from Last century – the 20th century, the 1900s – will survive to celebrate 200 years during the 2100s. I will get the ball rolling with Alban Berg’s two masterpieces, “Wozzeck” (1925) and “Lulu” (unfinished at Berg’s death in 1935, premiered in 1937). Both are near reaching the half-way mark of that 200 year goal. About a quarter of the way along are Benjamin Britten’s “Peter Grimes” (1945) and “Billy Budd” (1951) Thoughts?

What I still don't get: Why does a person who puts such incredible work into one posting want to put a 1st strike at North Korea? This makes me sad, so I post the "Lake of tears" and Goldie once also did a "Sea of tears" but that's another music genre
