Pretty much useless rehash of The Shallows, which was also garbage. No characters, no suspense, nothing that's not completely predictable. The two leads weren't particularly good.

There was some suspense, but it seemed a little silly after awhile. Definitely better than the shark movies on SyFy or from The Asylum. Now I hear there's going to be a sequel!

From what I gather, it was actually filmed before The Shallows, it just took a long time to get a release. I thought it was okay for what it was. Better than The Shallows, which I found frustratingly stupid.

I actually sort of liked 47 Meters Down, even more than The Shallows. The premise of being trapped deep underwater with dwindling oxygen and man-eating sharks all-around is, I think, a good and scary one. And I believe there were a few good and suspenseful moments, especially towards the end. However, the ending ruined some of the goodwill the movie had earned from me, I think the movie should've ended with the last girl hallucinating in the cage as she laughs maniacally as her oxygen runs out and a shark swims by , IMO that would've made for an unsettling ending with some emotional impact. Overall, I would say it is an OK and watchable shark horror.

I love sharks so I was going to watch this regardless of its quality. I don't regret it on that basis, but this movie was a little weak. The premise is cool (when I read it I wondered how they'd handle playing out the suspense). Felt like the pacing was off...like watching characters diffuse a bomb counting down from 10 minutes for 25 minutes on screen.
The shark stuff was great, though. I didn't regret watching it at all...just a little ho-hum

I thought it was solid, not perfect, but solid. Some tension, and striking moments with such a scary concept which I didn’t find all that predictable. Like others have already mentioned above, I do prefer this over “The Shallows”.

I really cared about the two Sisters and connected with them.Their relationship drove the movie for me. But if you didn't care for them I could see why you'd mentally check out quick.
I haven't seen "The Shallows". But meh. Maybe one of these days. It usually takes me awhile to see newer movies.

I was with it until the last 20 minutes or so. Felt like a big slap in the face to the audience at the end there.

Have to disagree with some of you, I frickin' loved seeing The Shallows on the big screen, the shark looked great and was a great scenario. 47 Meters Down starts off great but the hallucination ending felt like a cop out and unnecessary. Of the two, this is the one I watched twice because that ending confused me the first time.

I really liked The Shallows, and quite liked 47 Metres Down. Neither were super strong movies, but both were pretty decent and I loooooove me some sharky action. I even like those dreadful Asylum movies if they have a shark in. Sharktopus is one of my favourite terrible movies of all time! Compared to those, these two movies are practically Citizen Kane.
But I admit, I didn't much like the hallucination ending on 47 Metres Down. I can see what they wanted to go for, but it just didn't work for me. But I liked the rest of the movie, so I forgive them that.

I actually found the above shot as theyre falling quite terrifying. It successfully gave me a feeling of vertigo while watching it and i couldnt help but feel if i were in that situation how helpless id be.
Overall the movie was ok...but its that one shot that really made it memorable to me.

Can't wait to see what they do for an encore. What I've heard so far isn't promising.

Doesn't sound good. Something like 'Open Water' did it better? A confined dangerous environment with only a couple of actors playing off each other.
