The Three Degrees. West Brom's trio in the 70s named after the American Motown trio. There weren't many black players playing in English football at the time, but a bit like buses, you wait for one to come along and 3 come along at once. Interestingly, their manager at the time, Ron Atkinson, has now been ostracised from football... for being a racist. He called a certain French player a "lazy n*****" while he was doing TV work for ITV. He thought he was off air at the time, sadly for him though, it was still going out live in the Middle East. Whoops! Still though he has to be applauded for giving these guys a break when most other managers at the time weren't.

The Dome Patrol In 1992 all 4 linebackers made the Pro Bowl...only time in history that 4 players from the same position & same team has been invited.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Notre Dame "Outlined against a blue-gray October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore their names are Death, Destruction, Pestilence, and Famine. But those are aliases. Their real names are: Stuhldreher, Crowley, Miller and Layden."

Phi Slama Jama Was just thinking of Phi Slama Jama. What a ridiculously talented team. Akeem Abdul Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, Benny Anders, Reid Gettys, Larry Micheaux (another great nickname, "Mr. Mean"), Michael Young, Alvin Franklin, Rob Williams. Two of the greatest to ever palm a basketball and a damned deep team. But they couldn't win the big one. They should have bashed NC State by 40 points. Another great squad nickname in CBB, 1991-92 Kentucky Wildcats, "The Unforgettables". Richie Farmer, Deron Feldhaus, Sean Woods, John Pelphrey. Not that talented, no "Rupp's Runts" but they kept UK from being historically abysmal in the years between Eddie Sutton and Rick Pitino Nice to see Kentucky honored their jerseys, up with Dan Issel, Jack Givens and Pat Riley.
