Today's episode was kind of a rollercoaster, at least in terms of quality. I really liked (most) of the scenes with Will; especially with Marlena. As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm glad they nixed the idea of Rolf having some sort of anti-death serum and that Ben actually failed to properly kill Will, and Susan and Rolf faked Will's death from the get go. A little forced, and pretty much the story with the least amount of effort required to explain how Will actually lives now, but at this point I'll take it. Beats the hell out of magical Kahn blood...
Something's gotta give with Sami. I've always liked Allison Sweeney, and her return (along with bringing back Will) was pretty much my major reason for tuning back in, but they could do so much more with her character. There was a point a few years ago where there seemed to be the smallest glimmer of them maturing the character, and it almost all seems to have gone out the window.
On the flip side of that though, they did seem to be playing down the fact that her primary motivation in all of this relates to her son, who she thought was freakin' dead; and that anyone in similar circumstances would probably behave a lot like her if not worse. I mean, I've lost people close to me, and if I straight up discovered they were really alive, those would be some pretty heavy emotions to sort out. I think that's what I liked about Marlena's scene with Will; they played it with just the right weight, and the whole time I thought how much Will would probably want to hug his grandmother in that moment, if only remembered; and Marlena asking for that was the next best thing, because obviously she'd want that too.
I'm curious how it'll all play out with Lucas; I'm hoping that's going to be a powerful reunion.
Interesting to have Susan's breakdown, but still kind of dubious that this guy she hooked up with would just go along with her keeping Will as her son. Seriously sketchy, no matter how depressed she was.
The big question I have by the end of the episode was, what the hell was up with that last scene??? Going into it, it seemed to suggest to me, at least initially, to be in Susan's mind (or maybe Moira's); just the feel of how it was shot, the transition and everything, but then it almost seemed to play out as if it was supposed to really be Kristy, actually in "EJ's"/Will's room; when that wouldn't make any sense for Kristen to have, what, been hanging out in Memphis watching Susan and seeing what was going on with her and Will, and breaking into the house to have a private monolog after learning Susan was in the hospital after a nervous breakdown?? I mean, obvious it's supposed to stir speculation about EJ really being alive; and maybe there'll follow through with that (though I honestly would rather them not; especially if it'd be a recast), but overall the scene just doesn't make sense, unless it was some sort of delusion (ostensibly by Susan).
