Hey, that's good to hear 'cause I've got Umbrella's 'The Blob' (1988) on order right now. It's listed as a region B release, but several of the user reviews promise that it will work on U.S. players. I sure hope does, I'm taking their word for it. Plus, it's an awesome remake. Umbrella entertainment's region coding on their blurays can be all over the place. I know I got some of their releases which are all regions, while others like you mentioned "the blob", are only labelled B region. It might be fine though, as it was the same for "Q-The Winged Serpent", labelled region B only, but it actually worked on my multiregion player that was locked on region A at the time. Played fine. Then I tried a copy of "Don't Look Now", labelled region B only, but this one wouldn't play. So I guess it can be somewhat of a lucky dip. "The Blob" is one of the few remakes where I prefer over the original. 'The Blob' did indeed play just fine on my region 1 player..... and looked really good! Yeah, I'm the same way, there are very few instances where I prefer remakes, but 'The Blob' is definitely one of them. The only other one I can think of right now is the '78 version of 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' [and that was a tall order, cause I love the original too]. I know there's a couple more, but I can't think of them right now. Oddly though, I believe they were sci-fi related also, so maybe it's a sci-fi thing(?).

The ending of the 70s "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" is what tips it over for me. The build-up is constantly unnerving, and the finale just nails it. Throw in "The Fly" too. To be honest, the first time I saw it (as a kid) I wasn't all that taken by it. However the more I watch it, the more I seem to like it. The original is great too, but the emotional impact of the remake just resonates.

Well, as you know, I planned on waiting until a more "standard" version of this release would be available.
It "streets" tomorrow, and my copy has already shipped!
Usually I have to wait a few days for anything I order from Amazon. But this shipped quickly.
I hope I get it sometime early next week.

How's the version that just got released? Noticed it's a lot cheaper than the other one.

Amazon.ca indicated it's playable in Regions A(1) and B(2). But the cover just says B. I think that may have also been the case with "Silver Bullet".
