I was just thinking of maybe thinking like an atheist and changing my stance from being an agnostic to become a full blown atheist. I started thinking like an atheist. I suddenly felt like i had become part of a certain group of people, and started feeling vulnerable. Like when someone becomes nihilistic, his whole worldview changes and he he almost loses his soul and everything feels pointless and you feel dead inside. Why is that? What is this phenomena that when a nihilist suddenly becomes spiritual, he starts feeling good even though nothing has changed in the physical world?

Personally, I think that folks have much more control over who they are than society programs them to believe about themselves, and if you make the freewill decision to change something about yourself, your worldview will change with it.

Regardless of what is "fact" or not and what can or cannot be proven the concept of "nothing" is rather bleak. Blind people apparently see "nothing" we can't comprehend that though so we think of it as a world of darkness, darkness, being "something".
Atheism, is the belief that when we die there is nothing. That is pretty bleak. And would have to have an impact on your world outlook.
