Who was the better Rachel Dawes
Maggie Gyllenhaal is by far the better actress in my opinion but i have to admit i do think Katie Holmes was a better Rachel Dawes

Katie Homes. She is a far better looking woman than Maggie Gyllenhaal and I sympathized far more with her Rachel in Batman Begins than Maggie's Rachel in The Dark Knight. But Maggie Gyllenhaal is a much better actress than Katie Holmes and she isn't bad looking either. I just wish one of the actresses played the part of Rachel Dawes in both films instead of one for the other.

holmes. because attractiveness is important to bruce wayne's girlfriend characters and gyllenhaal just doesn't take the cake.

Maggie is by far the better actress although Katie has been in the better movies (The Ice Storm, Wonder Boys). I barely remember them in their Batman roles tbh.

Katie Holmes was by far a better Rachel Dawes . Gyllenhaal was actually kind of a bitch as Dawes (and unlikeable/ungrateful) . She was cracking jokes after Harvey nearly got assassinated in the court room scene.

Gyllenhaal by a wide margin. She looked tougher, like someone who could really take on criminals (in a legal way, that is). Also a better actress IMO.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Maggie's great, but I never bought her as Rachel. Holmes doesn't have the same range as an actress, but she did bring a kind of assertiveness to Rachel that would make her a more believable love interest for Batman. Holmes struck me as far more independent and scrappy than Maggie's portrayal. |

Katie Holmes. Neither actress was particularly memorable but at least Holmes gave us a hint of a reason why Wayne would care so much for her. Maggie gave us no reason. I never bought that relationship at all.
