1) It's not a good idea to introduce a main character in a scene where they snap at a family member or where the family member snaps at them. There's not enough dramatic impact because there's not enough context yet. It's also not a good idea to do that with more than one character... during the first 10 minutes.
2) I get that KAROLINA is upset because her selfie was altered into saying that she's being brainwashed by her mother, but... crying about it? I don't want to sound like a dick, but it doesn't feel like it's that big of a deal. Especially when we consider how far cyberbullying can go. No one wrote a strong insult (like "bitch"). No one photoshopped her head into a naked body. She didn't even seem that upset when people told her that to her face.
3) Is the show trying to portray KAROLINA as naive as a result of being raised by a cult? I don't think even people like that would accept pills from strangers. Let alone a bearded adult in a costume. Not even if they're going through a rebellious moment.
4) CHASE says "You didn't come to the funeral". GERT says "Yeah, who would ever do that? Not showing up when a friend is expecting them?" Seriously?! You're comparing getting stood up to not supporting a person in grief?! It wasn't even for a date; just a studying session!
