I mean, it should probably already be clear the writers have no interest in consistent or logical time travel rules, but seriously, where are we now with Thawne?? It's such a cluster now; he's erased from history, but there are remnants of him in periods where time needs him to exist, then Barry creates Flashpoint, pulling Thawne out of time before he becomes Wells, reverts history and Thawne appears to go on his merry way without any indication of him taking his proper place in history by taking on Wells identity. By all accounts this same iteration of Eobard then recruits Malcolm and Darhk to take on the "legends", only to get eaten or whatever by Black Flash/Hunter Zolomon; with nary a mention of what that means for the history depicted in season 1. Now he shows up again, wearing Wells face (which thinking about it in those terms does add an interestingly creepy serial killer type element to him. It also makes me wonder if this was simply a creative decision to have a bad version of "Wells" in the crossover to mirror the dopplegangers, without doubling Barry, or if the actor who plays Eobard otherwise was unavailable?). This Wells is apparently from the end of season 1, and supposedly did not die/get erased from existence, which in itself is a convoluted idea, but then he also ends up on Nazis World, and takes up Wells appearance again. Plus he's not at all concerned about the Black Flash or time wraiths, like he was last season, which was proven justified in the conclusion of last year's Legends arc. And on top of all that, I can't reconcile the Thawne who leaves Barry the video message, bequeathing him Star Labs, and confesses to killing Nora Allen, with his return to form, trying to help take Kara's heart. I mean, that part always seemed incongruent with the character anyways, and also wrote the show into a corner with subsequent versions of Harrison Wells lol living on this Earth and being on the team - but it still happened....

This is one of the problems these shows have, the longer they go on the more major flaws in their story telling crop up, the fact that the RF from the crossover is meant to be S1's RF is stupid in and of itself due to BF erasing him in last seasons LOT, but even the character isn't the same, RF wwas never shown to be outright evil, we saw in S1 that RF cared for Team Flash, even Barry to an extent, but he's ultimately a selfish prick, if it gets him what he wants he'll kill Cisco even though he cares for him, his motivation in LOT was all about him surviving he even rebuilt Star Labs in the present time yet here he says he hated it.
Also how is RF able to match Barry at all? Barry was shown at the end of S2 after his first vacation in the speed force to be more than a match for Thawne, and that was a Thawne at the top of his game with no speed issues, this RF however is the one whose been stranded for over a decade de to being unable to utilise his speed consistently, how did he stabilise the speed force in his cells? and how is he competitive with Barry who is faster now than ever before?
Also why the fuck was the breach portal so important? given Barry can dimension hop, why didn't Barry simply return to E-1 break cisco out and have him vibe them all back?
Like I get it if they explained it that Earth-X is such a vile world that the other earths blocked travel to and from it, and that the big breach was an anomaly the only way to and from E-X at all, you can easily work around it in the end by saying only speedsters can breach the dimensional firewalls due to the speedforce, meaning Barry would need to take Leo's BF there and return.
I mean I liked the crossovers a lot but stupid writing is stupid writing all the same.

LOL at Starzy back in his younger days when he thought they gave a shit about the timeline. Don’t feel bad mate. We’ve all been there before. We’ve all been there.
