The Guardian is in such a confused place when it comes to music. It likes to be seen as a culturally savvy publication; treats cinema like high art, fashion like high art, music like someone's dad trying to be down with the kids. "Hey, I heard that new disco song by The Lorde, I think it's pretty swag."

About a year ago on that other site there was a thread that The Guardian had selected "Lemonade" by Beyoncé as the best album of 2016. I also recall that there was a best of 2016 thread per IMDb users, and not one Music General poster selected that as their favorite album.
