Guh, I meant British accent... Ok... then I don't see the problem? You already have an Asian actress, you just need a british accent. They can always do flashback scenes to when she was caucasian if they want. Ok, again, why would she suddenly have a British accent? Why flashback it? Just tell the story. I'd rather it play out as we go than them alluding to it. Just bring her in as the Jean replacement like they did in the comics when Jean "died". Having the characters ready made is what is wrong with the X-men movies now. Build them up through the movies.

I envision a story of five teenagers with powers they can't understand or control taken in by a mentor who helps them to function as normal people (and protect themselves as a single fighting unit). They would lead a sheltered existence in a crumbling mansion up until they're thrust upon the world stage to oppose a mutant menace who represents the opposite of their belief systems. It needs to be that simple. The X mythos has become weighed down by Wolverine's amnesiac psychodrama, Mutant Registration Acts, Killer Robots, and heavy-handed race politics. There is a desperate need for the X-Men to refocus on characters and forgo bland didacticism.

It seems imminent that Disney is going to buy a Fox, so my question isn't should it happen but how should they handle it? Deadpool should remain its own thing IMO. I have no idea what I would do with the X-Men. I don't think that you can simply bring over the same actors. Hell, some of them have retired from the roles. Starting over just seems weird though. It's going to feel like a knockoff, because there's almost 20 years worth of material on film with these characters. Is there is interest in the Fantastic 4 anymore? Since none of those movies appear to "exist", recasting them would be a lot easier. The only people I'd like to remain in their roles are Ryan Reynolds as DP and Olivia Munn as Psylocke. Everyone else can (and should) get replaced. This is possibly the most confusing scenario/suggestion of them all.

Those elements have always been a backdrop to the saga of a gifted and dysfunctional family trying to find its place in a world that won't except them. The X-Men comics have always made room for seminal character studies of many of its members and their personal struggles.

But would love to see a story where Trask steals Stark's design (waitaminute... those names are anagrams) to create the foundation for the sentinels. Or improves on Whiplash's designs.

Ok now you're confusing me. You're the one who wanted an Asian actress with a british accent in the first place. So why don't you ask yourself the same question? Why do you want an asian actress with a british accent? Also, origin stories aren't always necessary. We didn't need a movie to show how Rocket Raccoon was created. The first time we saw Black Panther we didn't have an idea of how he became how he was. We don't have an origin story for Thor showing his entry into adulthood and how he became friends with Sif and the warriors 3. I agree with building the characters up through the movies. What I don't agree with is trying to start them from scratch.

Why both making Psylocke a British Asian to start with? Why not just make her British the way she originally was?

As she is, Psylocke is just the Asian one with no British accent and no past. I'd actually like to see her transform into Kwannon. Now I want to see a movie with the Hand and her switching bodies. Ooh can do it in a Mojo movie. Also, it's not an origin story because the Asian Psylocke is not how she originally was in the comics. She went over 2 decades as Caucasian before she had her body switch.

If you made a caucasian Psylocke, majority of casual viewers would not know who that was and you'd hear multiple cries of whitewashing.

You mean the version of the character where they took an interesting Brit and made her an Elektra knock off?

You don't just have the characters as window dressing. Also, have a cameo with her brother and mention that they are twins (because they are). I'd be surprised if casual viewers knew who Psylocke was anyway. Also, doing a type of Siege Perilous story would be awesome.
