Saw Logan at the weekend. Loved it, easily the best X-Men film and it was refreshing to see them make it for adults.

Alien vs Predator Requiem...The lighting is a huge problem in this film. Scenes are near pitch black with no idea what the hell is happening. Aside from that it's a fun little B grade sci do horror flick. The death count is high, the predator in this was great, the Predalien was very interesting. They pulled no punches with the kills either. Preggos and kids don't stand a chance.
Resident Evil...Another campy action horror series I enjoy. I'd say guilty pleasure but I don't feel guilty about it. I'm a fan of Milla.

I watched the new Beauty and the Beast today. I really enjoyed it. Emma Watson is perfect as Belle. She is charming and beautiful. The film has gorgeous cinematography and is a lavish, spectacular, visual delight. The film was entertaining, funny, and had emotional depth. I rate it 9/10. Best film of 2017 so far.

10 Cloverfield Lane - It was pretty entertaining. I think they did a pretty decent job of ramping up the danger. However, while this movie type of movie would certainly have a twist, and the one they have is a doozy, I'm not sure it meshes with the rest of the film.
I hope there's a sequel though. It could be the start of a good franchise.

The film worked on two levels. The psychological tension builder throughout and then, when all seems clear...boom action packed twist revelation.

I think I agree overall with that.
I liked the twist just fine. However, had I seen the film before, I don;t know if the first part would have held my interest as much or it's a completely different genre that I would have equally loved.
I want more of the twist or more of the original story and my brain is trying to link the two.
I think that was the intent since we are supposed to see things as the main characer does and the whole thing for her was a big wtf, but not sure if as a viewer I'm on board completely.

Beauty and the Beast - It is amazing. Very well done. We have now come to a point where movies that could only be shown animated now have even higher production values than those animations. This is a movie based on amazing design.
I loved the original and this is very much an almost replica of it but as if deleted scenes were restored.
The Good:
It's a beautiful film to watch. Nearly all the scenes are lush and bright Gaston is a good villain. Josh Gadd was funny and I'm not his biggest fan. The gay scene(s) was funny and slight...Almost to the point of being a bit stereotypical. The music is great, but in a Les Miserable way where the actors are almost sound like their singing live which means the voices are not that of singers but actors singing
The Not So Good
The CGI could be better and especially in comparison to Jungle Book.
Emma Watson did not detract from the film, but this version of Belle is less interesting than the cartoon Belle who felt like the first time Disney made a more independent princess. Also, the dude who plays beast does not have the same voice as...wait for it...Robbie benson in the original. This one sounds pretty much like Frazier Crane and there are few times he feels particularly menacing.
It is largely a remake so they didn't reinvent the wheel with this one. Jungle Book felt like a new version while this one felt like a repolishing of the original. However, I will say that Disney has perfected the emotional punch. This one felt way more weepy than the original even if the storyline overall didn't change.
Overall, it's great and I am officially looking forward to Disney cashing in on its classics as they are doing a great job at it. Time to get ready to cry manly tears for the Lion King remake.

Iron Fist...3-1/2 episodes in and I'm really enjoying it. More so than I did Luke Cage at the same point, perhaps even as much as I did Daredevil or Jessica Jones. Danny is an enjoyable character to watch despite his flaws and the supporting characters are interesting.

I'm fed up of the unsubtle repetition of the Meachems = baddies, repetitive flashbacks and little progress in the storyline. Certainly, IMO, well below DD and JJ, on a par with Luke Cage, which turned out to be a pile of bilge, so I am hoping that it picks up.

See I thought the Meachem thing in ep 1, but as the story progresses I see Meachems as complicated, selfish, and flawed more than out and out bad. The shades of gray that they've already shown in regards to Ward alone has been interesting. I pegged him as something of a tragic villain thus far.

The introduction/mention tells me the main protagonists are not the Meachems. Ep 2 was an hour that could have run in 20 minutes, and Ep 3 hasn't really moved anything forward. Like I said I will judge it as a whole when I've seen it all.

I think the fight scenes are good but it is kind of boring to me right now. I found most of the episodes of Luke Cage to be more interesting although this is definitely better than Jessica Jones.
I think the show is getting a lot of undeserved grief over getting a white dude to play the white dude from the comic book.

Not going to spoil anything, but there is definitely more to the Meachums than the horribly clichéd portrayal; of them in the first episodes. I'm not saying it's a good thing but they are more complex.
I finished an episode (I think it's the fourth one) that was directed by the guy who directed the Game of Thrones last two recent episodes and Hardhome all of which were glorious and aside from a decent fight scene, it was clear he was doing it for the quick paycheck.
