Hi, Ok we know in season 1 episodes and even season 2 it was always "Five Years on the island or five years on a hellish island" until 2x23 happened with Oliver in Hong Kong at the end. Now watching the first ten episodes of season 1, makes me think that the original plan was to keep Oliver on the island for that entire time. Which even the Bratva tattoo and rank could be possibly explained as with keeping Oliver on Lian Yu. Tricky, yes but not impossible. Because for those first episodes even in the pilot, Oliver said "I spent five sleepless night on this island" or something like that. Until 1x11 where Oliver drops the line "I never said I found it on the island" and even back then that put the "Hmm in my mind" of ok Oliver didn't spend all five years there. Actually MG from a podcast/interview leading into season 3 was checking online and surprised nobody picked up on it. Always bugged me, of why did it change? Even all the way back in season 1? Considering around that time, they knew they were going to get a full season and I'm sure it was in the works for a season 2. So maybe that had something to do with it. I'm not sure. What are your guys thoughts on this? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. It didn't change. They always clearly meant for him being on the island to be cover. He had to get off it and then go back. How many people can reasonably keep showing up on Lian Yu before it starts to look like a remake of Gilligan's Island?
