Name a band (or artists) whose best known song (biggest seller, most popular...) is actually one of their weakest songs.
Beatles - "Hey Jude" Simple Minds - "Don't You Forget About Me" The Clash - "Rock The Casbah" John Lennon - "Imagine"

I agree that "Rock the Casbah" is nowhere near one of the Clash's best songs. In the case of the Beatles, they've had so many classics that I'm not sure I would call "Hey Jude" their most popular in the first place. "Imagine" is a simple, idealistic pipe dream of a song that I would respect only if written/composed by a 13 year old. I don't know enough about Simple Minds to have an opinion of "Don't You Forget About Me" in relation to their discography.

I'm not sure I would call "Hey Jude" their most popular in the first place. I am using most popular or biggest seller as the criteria for this little exercise. "Hey Jude" is, in fact, The Beatles biggest selling song.

Layla – Derek and the Dominoes (or perhaps we could say Eric Clapton).
Not even my favorite track on the Derek and the Dominoes album.

Stupid question not worth giving a proper answer. What is a dope who doesn't like discussing music doing on a Music Board? Obviously, you can't think of an answer to the question. Too difficult. Others were able to give top answers. You can't. Your lack of music knowledge is showing. Stroll on to the LORD OF THE RINGS Board, Frodo. Discuss the various powers that Sauraman possesses. That dopey shit is just right for a teenager like you.

Free Bird is 30 second of lyric and 75 minutes of one riff, played over and over and over and over and over and over.Add to that both songs are horrendously overplayed, nearly up there with "Stairway to Heaven" or "Hotel California". I could have said Stairway. Some laughable lyrics are balanced by the beginning and Page's guitar work.

Wow. you really are a lightweight in the intellect department. Hey, kid, clearly music to you is just something you hear on the radio. You never give it a thought other than, "Mommy, this is the bestest song in the whole entire world."

I actually LOVE Hey Jude, but I do understand that it gets put on many's weak lists due to the excessive length, 7 minutes+, and the second four of it made up of repeated chants of La La La...Hey Jude..

Well, Chuck Berry's highest-tracking record was the dreadful "My Ding-A-Ling" but happily it's not his best known.

They aren't a band, but they are a group: the Oak Ridge Boys
What is it about their song named "Elvira"? To me, their best songs are the ones where my most favorite member did the leading, I love my late beautiful precious Steve Sanders SO much and it was him who did the leading on the group's last two #1 songs: "Gonna Take A Lot Of River" and "No Matter How High".
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly
P.S. Steve also did the leading for the group's final top ten song named "Lucky Moon".
