Meh. The first two Avengers movies were able to balance the characters, but even so, Thor got very little spotlight. Now he will probably get even less. I don't care about Rocket or Groot. The first two Avengers films also had a different director and even though Whedon did a good job balancing the cast, you could still tell he was prioritizing some characters over others. I got a much better sense of fair play concerning character focus in Winter Soldier and Civil War, myself. Considering that Civil War was a Cap movie and not an Avengers movie it's hard to tell. Though it is a good sign that the climax only focused on Cap, Bucky and Iron Man. I hope the Guardians aren't involved in the climax of IW.

I just didn't find it very enjoyable. The characters weren't likable, the universe wasn't authentic, the story was generic and the humor was hit and miss. Before anyone attacks me for this just let me say that this is only my opinion and I do realize I'm in the minority. Also, I just want an Avengers movie. I don't want some CGI Racoon stealing the spotlight. You have the right to your opinion. Lets just say I felt completely opposite. #teamcolden GotG is the only MCU series I don't enjoy. I tried. I've seen it thrice! I just can't get it to grow on me...

What would you rather see: a climax that gives the big moments to Iron Man, Thor, Cap and Hulk... Or a climax that gives the big moments to Gamora and Nebula?? To me, the choice is obvious.

I take a third option. A climax that gives the big moments to all the above. Look, dude, the Guardians are in this movie. Accept it. They are going to be in this movie, and bare minimum, Gamora and Nebula will be a part of the climax. I was convinced that Captain America: Civil War was going to be the worst movie ever for a whole year, right up until I saw it because I hate, hate, hate, HATE HATE HATE Marvel Civil War. But we all know how that turned out. Perhaps instead of fretting about how the film could go wrong, you could at least try to give it a chance. I felt like a ninny after Civil War was an excellent film, but I'd spent a better part of the year telling people it'd suck.

I'm just not thrilled about that one aspect of the movie. But more importantly: you really thought Civil War would suck? Its hard for me to imagine you saying anything bad about the MCU.

I don't have a problem with the Guardians participating in the finale in Infinity War, but I can understand the concern for them stealing the spotlight.
As for Nebula, I can see her playing a big part in Thanos defeat but I definitely have a strong feeling she's going to die.

If it helps, the Guardians probably won't be nearly as jokey in this film considering the severity of the situation. Infinity Stones all ending up in the hands of a mad Titan and all that. Yes, I did think Civil War would suck. To be perfectly blunt, I think the comic version of the story is one of the worst things to happen to Marvel in recent history and was the beginning of the downward spiral the comics division of the company currently finds itself in. I couldn't imagine taking such a vile story and actually managing to make something worthwhile out of it. "Polishing a turd" was a term I used a lot leading up to the film's release. I went into Civil War with absolutely rock bottom expectations. Like, Freddy Got Fingered expectations. I was also not looking forward to the prospects of them killing off Captain America like they did in the comic. Or Tony. Or any of the others.

Actually, if her role in the original comic version of the story is anything to go off of, they may end up doing something a lot more clever with her.

So, I've never read the comic version of Civil War. What is it that you hated about it? Also, how will you feel if they kill Cap or Stark in the next two movies? Killing Cap and/or Tony off in the next two films feels more appropriate, because this is a proper finale in its current form. Answered this point first, because its a shorter answer. Now for the lengthy "Why I hated Marvel Civil war" answer. The gist of the original is this: Civil War was a massive crossover event that spanned the entire (Earth-portion of) Marvel universe. There'd be a core mini-series that told the main part of the story while individual comics would cover what was happening from specific points of view. Like the Spider-Man comics covered how Peter Parker was impacted by the Superhuman Registration. According to Mark Millar, the author of the core series, and the editors, the Pro-Registration side was supposed to be the right side. However, they forgot to tell all the other authors that. And everyone just ended up using whatever individual comic series they were in charge of as a political soapbox comparing the Superhuman Registration Act to the likes of the PATRIOT Act and so on. One author might treat the Pro-Reg side like baby-eating monsters, while another might do that to the Anti-Registration side. There was no consistency. So yeah, the whole thing devolved into a clusterfuck. However, the most commonly used presentation of the SHR Act included these features: -Mandatory registration of all superpowered individuals (whether active as superheroes or not) -Mandatory registration of all costumed crimefighters (whether superpowered or not) -All crime-fighting and lifesaving activity by non-registered superheroes is illegal -All registered heroes are to attend - and pass - mandatory government training (waivers were issued by Tony Stark for himself and his pro-registration Avengers comrades) -All registered heroes are potentially liable to be called up into active government service, at the discretion of the government, without the option of refusing Basic story: A building explodes at the conclusion of a hero vs. villain fight like in the film, but the fallout is a bit different. It sparks a flurry of anti-super feelings in civilians. In the wake of the House of M and Secret War stories, Congress decides they have to act to control all metahumans, and the Superhuman Registration Act (SHRA) is passed. Captain America refuses to register and hunt renegade heroes, then forms the Secret Avengers, an underground organization that resists the Act. The X-Men declare the whole mess someone else's problem (what?), and Tony "Iron Man" Stark leads a SHIELD force to help capture all renegade metahumans, hero or villain. The US government, with Stark's concurrence, also puts together a task force of supervillains - the New Thunderbolts - for the purpose of hunting down unregistered metahumans. Some villains like Bullseye and Venom are used for the government-sanctioned hunting down of and crippling of unregistered heroes, with mind implants to prevent misconduct. The problems don't end there. Throughout the core mini-series, entirely authored by Millar, Captain America basically acted like a complete sociopath while Ironman turned into a goose-stepping Nazibot. Tony even forcefully enlisted children when he wasn't trapping his former friends and allies in the Negative Zone, an alternate dimension that causes whoever stays there to suffer emotional and mental anguish just BY BEING THERE. Tony also used Thor's DNA to create a near mindless killing machine that murdered several superheroes and civilians. Here's TVTropes' list of Headscratchers, basically a list of everything wrong with Marvel Civil War: linkAnd here's a pretty good video review about what's horrible about Marvel's Civil War:

@weirdraptor thanks for the detailed reply! I'm always interested in how the source material and films deviate. I just find it fascinating for some reason. All I knew before was that the comics featured the alternate dimension prison rather than the ocean jail. I've long thought about buying some of these just as companion pieces to the movies.

This seems like a longshot just based off quote a Jackman that made. I'm sure he'll eventually return to the role of Wolverine, but certainly not in Avengers 4.

I do hope it works. I really want this movie to be great. Also, Ant Man was my favorite part of Civil War! Exactly. They know how to handle a large ensemble and have proven they can do it on multiple occasions. Besides, this is a grand finale for the first major storyline in the whole MCU. This. I trust Marvel to handle all these characters well.

But if I do it'll be after the movie. I don't want to go in with specific expectations for story points. Winter Soldier is another I've thought about getting... I havent really ever read any comics with Cap or Iron Man, so I'd rather not start with CW seeing as how they're probably way out of character in it.

That would appease me a little bit over this monopolizing merger. Like Jackman, I've been dying to see him team up with The Avengers.
