Hello everyone, comic history, and the last show was about blacks in comics in general, and Milestone comics in particular. One thing I noticed was they kept saying the comic industry is owned/written by white men, and they kept bringing up Jack Kirby and Stan Lee as examples. One guy even said "These two white men.. Jewish men!", I thought "white" referred to "European descent", while ethnically Jewish was something else entirely. In fact, I've even heard it argued it's insulting to call one white, as well as incorrect. In terms of census and such, how do they define the subject? please let me know. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. References:http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f11/t648337.html product marketing examples

To be Jewish is to be part of a religion. Yes, there are some strong ethnic ties to that religion that have been stereotyped to death, and even the Supreme Court has used Jewish as a race in decisions about discrimination, but one can be any race and still be Jewish.

Supposedly in the 15th century Jews were dark-skinned.
There are religious converts, but there is also the genetic component. Not to mention Jews who spent a long time in isolated communities with a high rate of intermarriage.
And then there is the debate about whether the Jews of the Bible are the same as the Jews who resided near Turkey-Russia. Khazars I think they were called.
Then there is Sephardic and Akhenazi Jews.
Also there is something about a true Jew has to have a mother who is Jewish, otherwise they are not technically Jews.
Confusing, isn't it?

It is good to remember that there is no word in any language that has a universal definition. The best we can do is use words according to their general usage. With some words that is hard to do. But it bears mentioning that I have heard some Jews refer to themselves as white.

The first Jews were Semites, middle-eastern and brown-skinned, brown-haired, brown-eyed. However, for centuries, they have migrated into Europe and many intermarried with their "hosts", resulting in all sorts of racial demographic variants. But what difference does it make, really.

Yes, but of a different religion, because of that some other types of whites don't accept them.
As for Jews running the show in comics, its pretty obvious that the great creators in the industry, and a good number of the business men too, were in fact Jews. Siegel and Shuster, Lee and Kirby... Jews. And that's fine.
