If they had just employed a full time Admin and moderators they would have been able to keep their board open and not lose all their traffic. This board is proof of that since we have a good Admin that doesn't allow the trolls and cyberbullies to overrun the place like many of the boards on IMDB. Doing that alone wouldn't have worked. There were just too many boards for even full time Admins and Mods to properly oversee. I think they also needed to drop the boards for specific movies, actors, and filmmakers. Had they just kept the Main Boards like the ones duplicated here, they'd have been able to manage the userbase much more effectively.

Having just submitted a new movie review yesterday, and not having seen this thread prior to that, I was surprised by the changes made to how reviews on IMDB were displayed, the order they were displayed in (no option to change the order to 'prolific authors' or 'find a friend' - which would be handy when trying to locate your own review if you wanted to make changes to it, or if you wanted to go straight to reviews by other people from your country), and how the set-up for doing your reviews is now (there doesn't appear to be a 'preview' options). Anyway, it's definitely a step down (or rather several) from how it was originally. Very frustrating.

I read something about this. My goodness, IMDb is really hitting rock bottom. The user reviews were basically the main reason why I still visited the site, other than to see which actor played in what show/movie. Now that there's no order, the fake reviews are probably going to bury the genuine ones for crappy films.
I know filmmakers tend to give their own material ten stars with positive comments just so they can dupe people into thinking it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. IMDb should be doing something about that. They just keep going in reverse. They really must have a bunch of knuckleheads employed with their staff.
Ugh, first the boards and now this. I guess they didn't learn from their utter screw up earlier this year.

Speaking of reviews, it looks like they also removed the "rated episodes" feature (which would show a TV show's episodes ranked by rating). I think that was about the last thing I used the site for. Bastards. Is there no one at IMDb smart enough to know they are slowly but surly destroying a once great site?

Glad I found this thread. I was wondering why the User Reviews had disappeared. Looks like the site has truly become utterly pointless now.
I think IMDb wants to be more "Hollywood Friendly" which means making sure the right movies look popular and the wrong movies look crappy with no pesky users around to spread negativity. In essence I think IMDb wants to be more like Rotten Tomatoes, a bought website that does Hollywood's bidding.

Was a member there for about 17 years and according to my "badges", it seems that I submitted (or correctly labeled) about 5000 pictures). Submitted 150 bits of trivia, a handful of biographies. I rather hate to see it go. They already nuked MY character pages I still do get a kick out of Google-ing some shows I submitted things for and seeing MY pictures come up.

One of my pet peeves with IMDb has always been duplication in the various list submission areas (trivia, goofs, etc). An exact duplicate can be deleted easily just by going through the editing process and deleting one of the copies. Most entries, however are not quite exact.
I ran across one of these just now with some trivia from the Six Million Dollar Man. Long story short one of the episodes (Carnival of Spies) has two entries in the trivia section for that episode and they give the same basic information but tell the story with different details.
It would be nice to combine the two. I forget what their preferred way to edit things is. Do you make a new entry with the combined info, then delete the original 2? or an easier way would be to edit one of them with all the info and delete the other. It would be easier if they had a way to contact them and say "Hey these two entries are basically the same but need to be edited together." and have them do it.
