Luke's death scene would be less bothering than Admiral Ackbar's. Obviously.

By Ackbar's ink, I hope we don't have to wait until IX.

By Ackbar's ink, I hope we don't have to wait until IX. Speak for yourself. Whereas I'm glad the decision was rendered to push Luke's scenes back in TFA, I'm looking forward to enjoying approximately 4.5 hours of him on film in the living flesh and another .5 hours of him as a ghost.

I'm glad for you and hope you get what you want. I certainly was speaking for myself, expressing my hope, as I hold the unpopular opinion of unequivocally disliking Luke. I love Star Wars and I think Mark Hamill is totally rad, but Luke is my least favorite main character in the saga and I can't wait for his end. That said, maybe mature Luke will surprise me and I'll miss him after he's not there. Can't wait for the film to see how it all plays out!

Damn right! LONG LIVE ACKBAR!
But if he does die he can return as a Spooky Ghost like yours truly!

Just be sure I heard the same rumor, is it the same one that says just that Luke Skywalker fades away from existence?

I think Luke is supposed to be viewed unfavorably. He is set up like a young King Arthur but he is not-he ultimately needs to be saved by his father. He's beta all the way. They could have made him into an interesting wandering knight character (according to Gary Kurtz's claim of the original treatment) but sounds like he is a victim of the agenda so they have to make the white male a failure in some way. The only true hero in the OT was Lando. Someone kept saying that he was a bad guy at first but that's nonsense. The Empire arrived-he runs a society-he had to do what Vader wanted or risk people being killed. It was that maniac Han who, when they enter the dining hall, decides to aim a blaster at Vader. At least Darth had the good manners to let the assassination attempt go by with a "we would be honored if you would join us" remark. That's class.

But this isn't your dad's Luke in this film. I think everyone's going to like this performance.

If the dual that precedes it is epic and awesome, I think his death could be good too

Why did he have to die? If they wanted to make him astral travel, fine, but keep him alive ffs. He died the lamest death in cinematic history.
And if they really wanted to kill him, why not do it in person? he’s only got an X-wing on the sea floor. Raise it up and then Luke can travel to Crait to get killed.
Rian Johnson is an asshole.

Honestly, I would not have enjoyed "that" Luke for 4.5 hours anyway. It's just as well.

That's what I kept thinking. What the hell did they show it for if it wasn't going to come into play?
