Yes, the X-Men always played it safe and stayed where audiences were comfortable and always made a good buck even when they sucked. And everyone was chomping at the bit for a Wonder Woman movie. Everyone and their dog was guaranteed to go to Gal Gadot's star making role.

I guess we'll see with Black Panther and Captain Marvel.

Of course there are. Human beings are emotional things that react to the world around them. If a movie can manipulate those things then it will definitely affect the audience.

So are there such things as artificial boosters or not? #teamcolden What I mean by this term is that the film appeals to a different demographic than other films you would normally compare it to. So for instance you can't just compare Wonder Woman's number to Thor's because a significant amount of the box office includes young girls and women who don't watch or rarely watch other movies in the genre.
It's not artificial in the sense that it doesn't count. Of course it counts. But if you're going to compare it to other genre films, you have to keep that in mind.

I couldn't really answer, because I honestly believe yes and no.
Lets use Wonder Woman for example: the artificial booster being the feminist agenda. Do you think MEN really went to see Wonder Woman because of a feminist agenda? I don't. So that leaves us with whether or not more women than usual went to see the movie because of the feminist agenda. Ok, maybe so. However, once they went and saw the movie they could see for themselves that the movie was actually good, aside from any agenda that was attached to it. And when a movie of this kind is actually good audiences repeat view. movies of this kind don't get the large numbers unless there's some percentage of repeat viewing.
So, yes... and no.

What's the difference between artificial boosters and natural boosters? Or is the word organic boosters? Maybe it's just real boosters?
When I ask for a booster seat for my kid at a restaurant is that natural or artificial?

So, yes... and no. Except that feminist agenda might have been enough to bring them to the movies in the first place. Let's face it, majority of movie goers don't repeat movies they've already watched, not in the theaters anyway. So all the booster needs to do is get them in the moviehouse the first time.

Yeah, when you buy out another movie studio, create a literal media monopoly, and violate every antitrust and regulatory precedent en route to buying up the entire market -- THAT's an "artificial booster."

I don't expect you to understand this deal except to clap like a seal and have your mom take you to the new movies.

I hear ya. I am actually concerned about this myself. Even if only because they may be able to dictate which movies I might be able to watch in theatres in my area and have to pay higher ticket prices to do so. Monopoly = no good for anyone.

I'm ashamed of the source of artificial boosters! And they're only appreciated because it's the swan song

Blame Fox, they were selling no matter what. I don't expect you to understand this deal except that it means Disney is acquiring all the properties FOX has mismanaged for years. Fixed.
