I don't want them to change the story too much. I don't mind a few changes here or there to make it interesting and fun for newer gamers as well as nostalgia players (like me) who loved the original PlayStation game.
As far as gameplay, I know they are changing the fighting style. I'm okay with an update in the fights. I'm sure it'll take some getting used to for old school RPG'ers like me, but I'll figure it out.
Now, one thing I don't want is for them to design the players too different. I want them to have the same personality, hair styles, clothing, etc... If they start taking liberties with the characters too much, change too much, it will be a disaster.
Fans (like me) of this game have waited TOO long for a REMAKE. 20 years in fact. Don't screw this up Square. If you take away the iconic moments of the original and/or change too many things, it will be an epic backlash. Most Final Fantasy VII fans just want an updated graphics remake of the original game. Not too complicated.
I would be okay with the midi music to be updated to instrumental orchestra versions. That could be great.
Your thoughts?

I'm so excited for the remake, it's my favourite game of all time. I loved playing it when I was a kid. I'm hoping the fighting style isn't going to be too difficult, I have no hand-eye coordination so it makes playing games like that almost impossible. It would be a nightmare if the fighting style was like that, I'm not too keen on them making it episodic but we'll have to wait and see how well that actually works.
I can't wait to see what happens in the Wall Market when Cloud dressing as a woman, I so hope they don't get rid of that story line, it was hilarious! The Bumblebee Inn section was just plain weird! I loved everything that happened whilst they were in Midgar it was the best part of the game.
Overall I'm pretty excited and can't wait until it comes out.

I was actually thinking about it as I was typing this thread. Funny. So many people loved that story point. It is quite funny.

I love that game. I still have my copy for PS1. They are offering it for the tablet also. (whatever that system is called. Android?)

I was so happy to find out this is actually going to happen. Between this and Kingdom Hearts 3, my PS4 is going to be very busy.

I've seen some footage of the fight system, it seems to be more Final Fantasy XV, very open and definitely no turn based fighting anymore. I'm not sure if they're going to go full FF XV and only allow control of one character, with others as support and nothing more.
Visually it is going to be great, I don't doubt it for a second, but story wise? No idea what they are going to change, and they are going to change things, making it a Multi game remake for instance. (or so I've read anyway)

That definitely does look and feel like the Final Fantasy XV fight system. Not entirely great news, but it does have its benefits imo.
