Do you really think some tits, swearing and extra blood is all it takes to make a good movie?

Is there really anyone out there saying that a R rated Movie is good because of it's rating?

Do you really think some tits, swearing and extra blood is all it takes to make a good movie? It's about how and why those elements are used.

Blood is needed, to show the realism of physical violence. Don't care about the other things.

Blood is needed, to show the realism of physical violence. Don't care about the other things. It isn't like Deadpool had any realism with its violence. Wade could heal from anything instead of ever being slowed down by it. It's just another cheat.

This thread isn't about cbms, it's a question, that goes for movies in general.

However, in the context of the genre, an R-rated slasher would be (or could be) better than a PG-13 one. The rating only matters in terms of what the movie wants to accomplish. Logan worked as an R movie because of its story. However, an R-Rated Avengers movie wouldn't make much sense. And I doubt some nudity, cuss words, or swearing would do anything to improve it.

R-Rating allows humans to get injured and bleed. PG-13 not.

R-Rating allows humans to get injured and bleed. PG-13 not. Heh, Cap and Iron Man were both more bloody and beaten in Civil War than Clark and Bruce were in BvS. I suppose you wouldn't be happy unless they showed Bucky strangling Howard Stark with his own entrails slowly.

R-Rating allows humans to get injured and bleed. PG-13 not. Not true. PG13 movies show characters getting killed and injured all the time. The main difference is how much of that death and injury you're allowed to show.

Do you really think some tits, swearing and extra blood is all it takes to make a good movie? Completely agreed. I don't see why Logan need to be R. You don't need Deadpool to be R either.
Punisher probably needs to be, but that's about it.

There's more to an R rated film than just blood, tits or whatever. A R rating gives a film more freedom than say a PG 13. There's themes and stories that can be told better in a R rating format.
PG-13 tends to be more stricter in certain areas, thus you may not get a whole lot out of it.
For example look at a character like The Punisher. For some he's just a guy who just shoot up people, but his story revolves around the worse of what mankind has to offer. There's a popular storyline called "The Slavers" which is about sex trafficking, something that unfortunately still going on today. A story like that probably wouldn't leave a big impact if the director is Force to tell a water down version of it.

That's nice, but it doesn't change the fact that 99.99% of films in this genre shouldn't come anywhere close to pushing the R rating boundary. So the statement that people are getting too hung up on the R rating still stands.

It can become R depending on how it is presented, but nothing on its own makes it R rated. You have to remember that majority of the comicbooks these characters were taken from were not R rated material. And yes, I agree that an R rating gives you more freedom to do stuff. That doesn't necessarily mean better.

We live in an R-rated world. Maybe people like seeing reality reflected in their art?

Screw R rated... I want X rated. I can't think of one CBM that would not be improved by a money shot. In fact it could be an additional moment of peril in Ant-Man.

We live in an R-rated world. Maybe people like seeing reality reflected in their art? No we do not. At least, not for the regular people. A regular person will not go through life seeing gory deaths or tortures. A regular person engages in sexual acts which only he/she does, they won't usually go and watch other people engaging in sexual acts live. Swear words though, I guess that can be argued. Depending on where you live, you may or may not get a whole load of swearing. Still, I don't think that's the norm.
