I discovered there was a major difference between the prequel fans & regular fans. Prequel fans disliked TFA with a passion.

Damn, that's low but I don't trust RT that much as Revenge of the Sith got only 63% and Force awakens got freaking 89%; those scores should be flipped.
Then again metacritic has a pretty low audience score aswell. Looks like this is going to be worse than TFA.

I hated it becoming #4 A New Hope when it was the original SW. I enjoyed TFA. The prequels were annoying in that Lucas was a totally different person when he made them & a bit full of himself. I got the same vibe off Harry Potter. Rowling started out this fresh little thing, but then seemed to buy the press she was writing something amazing. The 4th book is where I stopped. Lucas started Anakin too young We saw Luke on the cusp of manhood. Starting Anakin as an 8-10 yr old threw things off. To hell with the trilogy concept, Lucas needed to make 4 films because 3 was not enough to tell the tale from that starting point. Anakin was The Great Clone Wars hero, but the war was like a skirmish. There wasn't any feel of it being that major & whoosh Anakin became evil. There wasn't any space for him to be great so his fall didn't feel that horrible. I felt like Lucas lied to my 17 yr old self when he sold Star Wars to me. It changed Vader completely if one looks at the prequels.

The point of Anakin being young was showing that he already had formed attachments when he was culled by the Jedi; his inability to let go of that (as mirrored by his mother- and wife relationships) was the root of his motivation and his downfall: fear lead to anger, anger lead to hate and hate led to suffering. The same principles apply to the downfall of the Republic that has the Empire grow out of itself like a cancer...or an inbalance of the Force. Lucas stands for vision, ideas and storytelling abilities; people mindlessly whining about that never provide any substance, or if they do these are abysmally trivial.

Oh Hell, you have bought it hook, line, & sinker. I was 17 when I saw SW in 1977. I was almost 40 when the prequels came out so I was twice as old when Lucas got around to making the prequels. 20 yrs of knowing the originals. 20 yrs of Han shot first. 20 yrs of Anakin was The hero of this major war. And then Lucas gave us the prequels? After he hid licking his wounds over the bad reviews for Willow. He insisted he had it all planned out in a spiral notebook. But starting with Anakin so young didn't allow enough time for the sort of development Luke, Leia, & Han went through in the originals. He needed to make 4 films

I have yet to see the film but there is clearly a flaw the critics are playing blind too. the film is already an 8.0 on imdb which is quite low for a newly released movie, the score could go below a 7 in the next coming months.

Wow! The difference between the critics and audience scores are pretty extreme with this movie. I bet it's outrage over... The demise of the good Admiral🐙 I'm waiting for the riots to start!
